Snow

I just watched a C5 prog of the snow of 1982 , look at it on catch up, i had forgotten just how bad that was, not helped by thatcher being a ****
I watched that as well. Proper snow that and from the looks of the programme people just cracked on with it as best they could.

Quite an entertaining programme.

I was only 6 months old unfortunately but looked great.

Hello....ergh is anyone out there ? Has the all clear siren gone off ?
I'm not sure it's safe to go out yet but supplies are running low, I'm out of truffle olive oil and I'm low on those nice biscuits you can only get from Waitrose.

Please don't say it's just me, there must be others out there thst survived.

I remember setting off to work in the car from Timperley to near Maine Road at 7.30 and arriving at nearly 11.00!
The roads were like ice rinks, it was carnage.

Remember back in the late 70's you'd manage to get to work and then they sent you all home - set off at 5 am to be on time for 8 start then sent home - 9 miles each way in wellies with plastic bags on your feet to keep warm.
Walking home was okay as you were all together and that group included women in their late 50's.
One thing I noticed as I aged was in those days if you made the effort you got paid if you were sent home or no transport running to get there, now you can go home but you will have to pay the time back.

I worked at The Refuge. I remember the bus sliding in snow at the junction of Cambridge Street by The Hotspur Press. We all nearly wet ourselves on the bus, I was only 16 at the time and remember it clearly, it was thick snow that winter 78/79.

Same winter I'm guessing
