So what do we need in the summer....

Get back to being aggressive in the transfer market, the recruitment since the treble has been far from great. Too many project players who don’t improve the starting 11.

The likes of Marmoush, Reinjdeers, Gonzales, Ait Nouri can’t get near holding down a starting spot. Hopefully Maraseca can see Pep’s blind spot with Savinho, he’s never a first option off the bench to change things.

Get back to forcefully taking the best talent in Europe and the PL off other teams. David Silva, Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko, Kevin De Bruyne, Fernandinho etc all recruited before Pep rocked up. Walker, Mahrez, Sane, Bernardo Silva, Gundohgan etc when Pep arrived that built the foundations of the success we had under Pep.

We are losing one of the greatest managers in the history of the game. To balance that out for whoever comes into manage in the future there needs to be a stronger group of players. The club had this during Mancini’s tenure, need to get back to that level of recruitment to ensure the continued success of the club goes on.

Our midfield needs a complete reboot. We can't go into next season just hoping that Foden regains form, hoping that Rodri recovers from his injury, hoping that Reijnders and Gonzales suddenly become adapted to the PL, hoping that Kovacic has another season in him, hoping that O'Reilly will become a midfield player. Some of those hopes may materialise but, I suspect, not many of them.

Gonzalez hasn't made the bench recently. Think he leaves.
I honestly think we'll go for Fernandez from the Chavs
He’s not going to leave there unless Alonso wants him gone, and we are just lucky the Spaniards don’t usually have that kind of money!

Chavs had a pre tax loss of over £260m. That isn't sustainable especially as Alonso will want his own players in too.

Can't say I'm Fernandez's biggest fan; he's a nasty little ********** hut we need one of them.

In Anderson, Wharton/E Fernandez, if Rodri signs, both if he doesn't, back up RB & a scoring winger & a Keeper

Out Bernie, Johnny S, Jack, Akanji, Rico L, Philips paid off, Nico G, Kova, Savio, Marmoush, Traf/Donna, Ake

12 out 6 in, 5 already gone

We need to buy top quality players this summer.
Pep hasn’t wanted to rotate in the last few months because the options off the bench aren’t good enough
Viana needs to be brutal in his position if he wants to make a mark
Savinho, Nico G, Marmoush, Rico, Kovacic, Ake out
We used to rotate every game and not see a drop off

A few will go and those going i would include rodri he wasn't interested last night , but he be interested for Spain, so if Madrid want him sell him, and none of this shit half now half later, we have had that with Barcelona, any of players going to those 2 clubs all money paid in full

I don't know how Donarumma feels about the club. He's saved us many points this year despite not being great with his feet. But if he doesn't envisage being with us for the long term it would be silly to get rid of Trafford.

So if we had to pick an XI from what we have

Goalkeeper
Nunes Khusanov Guehi AitNouri
Rodri
Cherki O'Reilly
Semenyo Haaland Doku

Now the big issues are is Rodri done at this level? Can O'Reilly play Bernardo's role or is better off staying at LB.

Squad players
Dias rotating with the 2 CBs
Foden hopefully regains form and rotates with Cherki.

Kovacic useful back up as an 8
Reiss. talented
Savinho not out biggest problem but not the answer either
González should be used more

Reinjders too lightweight

Marmoush won't start enough and he is in his prime, so sell.

I am of the opinion we need an older experienced striker willing to be back up to Erl.

So tinkering in defence and attack but we need to sort out the midfield 3.

Our success under Pep was built on

Fernandinho, David and Kevin then
Rodri Kevin and Gundo

With Bernardo taking up multiple roles.

Cherki has the talent but if Rodri is past it we need a 6 and an 8.

Are the 2 Forest players at the level required to win a CL? Unlikely. To win the EPL probably.

Not sure how he wasn’t interested. He put himself about all game. He was very poor all game due to the fact he looked like he was towing a caravan. I wouldn’t question his commitment when in the pitch though

A midfielder or two, a right back and a centre half that can play with the ball

Then maybe we'll push for the title

Our centre backs will be Dias, Gvardiol, Khusonov ,Guehi, and probably Reis.Don't think we'll be adding anymore,or need to.

One thing that needs to be sorted in the Summer is our Recruitment Department. How we have recruited some of the players we have over the last couple of years defies belief .I won't go into naming them as we all know who they are. However our fans seem to be better judges of players than our RT

We were very aggressive in the transfer market. That's a nonsense claim. A squad wins you titles, not just an XI.

We have one area of doubt which is the midfield, where there are a few question marks. I would look to bring in a midfielder, and I would bring in McAidoo into the first team squad.

Midfield really

We might need a goalkeeper if Trafford goes.

I don’t have too many issues with the defence itself

I can’t see many forwards that will be much better than what we have, though if Marmoush leaves we need a striker

It’s the midfield for me, the back four isn’t getting much protection or feeding the forwards well enough. If Rodri is going to carry on like last night then we need bodies in there.

Gonzalez is an odd one, it looked like he was going to be (at least part of) the answer and then disappeared with injury and team selection. Reijnders has the credit of being new, just, for now but that time is almost up.

So fucking much this. I've been banging on about this for ages. The benefit of being one of the richest clubs in the world is that you can buy ready made players. It doesn't fucking matter if Brighton or Forest or Bournemouth unearth the next gem who we could have signed for 15m instead. When you're on top you let everyone else sort the wheat from the chaff and you cherry pick the ones who make it at the end. You reserve the 'development spots' for our own academy lads like Foden and NOR.

You can't entirely blame the club as due to FFP/PSR etc we have been somewhat forced down this road, but I do long for the days where we could see who was the best player at that just-below-top-tier club and buy them. Your list there is a perfect example. It's not a coincidence that our most critical players were already playing nearly at our level before we signed them. We just give them a better environment under a better coach to kick on to the top. I think you've missed perhaps the best example too in Sterling. Forcibly taken from a nearly-direct rival and was huge for us. Rodri also! We should never be messing around with the likes of Savinho until they've proven their worth at a club like Dortmund, Atletico, etc. Players who are used to playing in the CL and juggling the league with cups.

Early business. It has been two years of upheaval, and the World Cup cannot be used as an excuse for not landing targets early. We need to throw the kitchen sink at the midfield and then any other areas can follow. Of the team that started at Wolves on opening day, only three started at Bournemouth, and 4 in that original squad subsequently left. Get the deadwood out and all business done early.
