So what do you do for a living?

What profession are you in? Do you hate it on a daily basis? Do you wake up and feel excited to go to work? Do you wish you had done something different at school/college/uni? Do you still have time to change it all and find a new path?

I finished uni in 2007 and am yet to find work using my B.A. I took a long happy year off doing absolutely nothing after from 2007-08 and if I could do one thing differently, it would have been not to do that, and completely immerse myself in interning, or job-hunting, and even starting a master's degree.

I still wait tables and have worked in casinos, bars, nightclubs, and restaurants for over a decade now. I don't consider it a profession at all, certainly not a career, and as someone approaching 30, it's nice to know that I have made a promise to get out and get on soon!!!
How do you manage to deal with the public?
I was a barman in a restaurant and got sacked because of customers winding me up.

Since the vast majority of them are Americans (and the vast majority of Americans are comical), I treat each and every one of them as a learning experience :)

It get's awful though at times, and I have been out many a night on the piss just to drown my sorrows in the corner of the bar sat on me fucking tod away from all and every human being breathing. Bit older now, so less emotional.

I'm on benefits, and what with the way the climate is. There is no point me finding a job, as I'd be worse off. I get my rent and council tax paid, so the money I get means I can live comfortably. It can be a bit tiresome finding things to do, but I usually end up in the pub, or going for a few games of snooker. That seems to pass the time. It also gives me time to get myself fit, I go to the gym every afternoon. Then For a little flutter at the bookies. I do want to work, just no point at the moment.
