"more than double the transfer record... Zidane was £46m..."
Another factual error.
Zidane's transfer fee 7 years ago from Juve to Madrid was 76 million Euro.
Previous record was Figo moving 8 years ago for 58 million Euro.
Kaka's fee is (allegedly) 120 million Euro.
OK, we're splitting hairs but it's 7 years since Zidane moved so the relative increase isn't as extortinate as it may sound.
And of course we have the usual Sky-blindness of the 250 million spent over the past few years on Wio, Looney, Nanny, etc. That doesn't count - it's always Chelski and the Roman cash that is brought up for comparison.
"500 grand a week...."
City's annual income in round figures is £100 million.
Income of "top" clubs are around £300-400 million - Sky cash, CL cash, merchandise, global sponsorship, etc.
If Kaka and 2 or 3 other megastars can come in and take City to a level that generates that extra £200-300 million income then it doesn't look such a bad piece of financial business - 100 million a year to the players for an extra 200 million a year income.
We have smart business brains in charge of the finances.... the individual mega bucks deals will be based on performances, share of merchandise, etc. Who knows - 12m basic, 8m sponsorship/merchandise, 5m PL win or CL qualify.
