Oh f**k, this was bound to happen two of grunges finest. One sadly departed and the other having played a blinder at the Lowery only a few months ago. Sorry Layne but Mr Cornells Manchester show just blew me away, so its a vote for Chris.
That was bloody hard, could have been worse Vedder v Cornell.
I was at The Lowry that night, great gig!

Mr Cornell on this one.

Although I did listen to Jar Of Flies/SAP the other week and went on a proper nostalgia trip.

RIP Layne Staley Vegas.

Fuck Fuck Fuckety Fuck!

I love the two spin off bands better than the two originals they both sang in, Mad Season - Alice in Chains and Temple of the Dog - Soundgarden but Fuck to which is the better singer.

Cornell's 'Hungerstrike' is one of my all time favourite tracks but Layne's painful vocals and opening of his soul on 'River of Deceit' is masterful and yet so desperate as if pleading for help.

Cornell also blew me away at the Lowry and was far better than when I'd seen him with Audioslave, yet i'm sure Layne would have done the same thing. Fuck Cornell, Layne, Cornell, Layne, Cornell, Layne.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo just can't do it.

Make your mind up. Also includes Mark Arm of Mudhoney and Jerry Cantrell might be in there.

Seen both live and on all occasions they disappointed me on the 'front man' thing...this isn't to say i don't love both of their voices.

But going with Cornell (anyone else get goosebumps when his voice comes in at the end of Right Turn from the Sap EP?)

Edit.......hadn't seen Bluu2112's previous post...guess it answers my question :)

Big fan of Soungarden when I was a kid. Saw Cornell at the Lowry recently - stirring stuff.

Saw Alice in Chains supporting Megadeth at the Apollo in about 91. Didn't know much about them at the time but they were immense.

Cornell for me tho

Knoxy I was gonna go with Layne but Cornell's voice at the end of this just pilled it right back. Hungerstrike always blows me away and he surprised me at the Lowry just how relaxed he was and how he seemed to be just really enjoying himself. Sadly something Layne never got the chance to figure out.
