some fans need a reality check

reading some of the posts I despair at some fans, seriously I do, first off put the MH issue to one side because I honestly believe it has absolutely no bearing on this Januarys transfer window, it is an historical FACT teams don’t sell their best players in January because all the best players are involved in domestic and European competitions, so he cant be blamed for the calibre of player we are going after, hence why we are signing players who are not involved in competitions as such.

If we had been 6th in the league then I don’t believe we would have made any signings because no players who were available would have improved our squad, we would have waited until the end of this season and gone for quality signings.

Some fans are already becoming disillusioned because we have gone out and bought Scott Parker and Wayne Bridge?

I ask you this question why do you think we have signed these types of players?

I will tell you why Because we are in deep shit we need players immediately with premiership experience, this is not because this is a precursor of what’s to come, it is time for a reality check we have to steady the ship, we are heading towards the rocks we need to stabilise our selves, we are signing reliable players who are consistent, they will improve our squad and hopefully have an immediate impact.

The FACTS are these players are better than what we have; they are what is needed at this moment in time, I hope we sign a few more players with premiership experience because we need them.

And to you lot who want us to go out and immediately buy kaka, and other world superstars you seriously need to get a grip, don’t be disappointed, once we lay the foundations we can then move up on to the next level, the truth is with or without MH our squad needs some major surgery before we become a major proposition to world class players.

I don’t believe MH is responsible for our situation, I am not saying everything is rosy in the garden, but I think the writing was on the wall for this squad last season, I think MH signings on the whole have been pretty good, I thank god every day we signed Robinho without him we would be in serious trouble.

We are building for the future it takes time be patient

very very good post and the thing is it actualy makes you feel better reading that, i agree from other posts MH is building a 'get in yer face team' why not? we have been soft city for 30 fukin years, once the foundations are in place then we can proceed onwards to add the likes of kaka etc, this is what he couldn't do at rovers because he didn't have the finances

well said, alot of people are moaning about these signings but i cant see why, proven quality players and as you say ready to play in the prem, these are the sort of players you can build a good strong squad with. something we lack.

Wayne Bridge and Scott parker are not just in your face players though.

I get the point being made, but it's unfair to put them on a level with Savage etc. They are technically good players who are big improvements - technically and physically with what we have now.

Sense !!! ? It's not sense to pay over the odds for a distinctly average player
who is constantly injured. If Parker seems like a good buy to you then I must ask,
where is your ambition ?

Hughes is buying his kind of players, we will be Blackburn 2.0 and be expected to be happy
with our team full of cloggers when we eventually qualify for the UEFA cup in about three
seasons time.

the old saying i think marvin 'walk before running' i was one of the first on hughes's back but after taking stock tonight on his transfer activity, given, rsc etc etc i can now see some light, once these guys are here then the dead wood can go

I would say Bridge is a good buy irrespective of our current situation and is better than what we have. Parker is not better than what we have but he may actually play better (or battle harder if you prefer) then what we have - at least for a few months anyway.

RSC I don't especially rate but something has to give or we will end up in a relegation battle By this I mean since Hughes has seemingly given up on the current squad he needs a brand new one to get some results on the board otherwise we are screwed.

I presume the 'not paying over the odds' has gone out of the window and I suspect we will be buying a job lot of solid PL players for a big premium to ensure we stay in the PL. If it does the trick fine but we will end up with a stack of average PL players whose ambition will be top 8 at best which we either shift out if we want to move up a level or two. Or we settle for trying for 'best of the rest' ouside of the top 4 but it will all depend on what ambitions ADUG have for City. If it is the later than the top 4 will be quietly content - unfortunately.

Anyway the reason we are doing this is because Hughes has failed to deliver. Hopefully with a brand new set of players he can do better and get us out of this mess we find ourselves in.

I assume also we are waving goodbye to the dream of Kaka and co for the time being which is a shame because I did so want MCFC to get amongst the big boys. The fact we are aiming to emulate -er- the Blackburn's and West Ham's of this world is not what I had in mind for the worlds richest clubs but hey its a cruel world :)

top post ..theres too many on here think all you have to do is put formula 1 tyres on a ford fiesta then pay lewis hamilton a fortune to drive it .
too many posters keep saying parker , hes not what we need , bellamy , hes not what we need .....bollocks ,what we need is people who dont like fooking losing ,
people blame mark hughes , bollocks this is svens attitude ,it was with england and it is with us .
robhino hit the nail on the head and untill that loser attitude is adressed we will get nowhere...how many more times are we going to say " they beat us because they wanted it more " before the penny drops...!

I don’t lack ambition mate, as I said in my post I think we are buying the best players available to do a job right now, the players we sign now will become squad players because football is a squad game.

The fact your disappointed by our signings says to me, maybe you have unrealistic expectations of where we are at, or you have not grasped the gravity of our situation.

mkae perfect sense couldnt have put it better but i would add that having seen the type of player hughes is bringing in i am confident in his ability to spot our weaknesses and plug the gaps. time will tell how far he can bring us but he can, for definite, stabilise us and get us pushing up the table.

why wouldnt he buy his kind of player? and also "paying over the odds" so fkn wot. we are hardly skint . another negative newbie, even bigger fukkin yaaawwwwwnnnnn

Intresting and positive.
However due to the credit crunch there are some fantastic players available if you have the money and we have.
Its not all about money though and the fact we are in a relagation battle and unlikely to play in Europe next season makes these Fantastic signings unlikely.
So we are in a position where we can get good players to ensure we are not relagated and have a mediocre season. These players are not be able to get us into a top 4/5/6 but I am glad they are here to save us.
Thanks MH I am very grateful ;-)

no offence with your post and point taken, but we are in a dire situation and as it stands the trap door will open for us for the drop, the correct thing to do is stop the ship from sinking 'then fix it come summer' this MH will do,i have the faith

Didn't realise that Sven is still with the club. Damn that man! Come on Hughes find out where he is hiding and banish him before he works anymore of his Swedish mojo on our players

Its like the f**king twilight zone on here sometimes...

I would not say it is impossible to finish top 6 this season, this is one of the tightest premierships for years, and if we make more decent signings who knows, if anyone can do it we can.

We have to face the facts he has inherited a piss poor side, and maybe our expectations were a bit unrealistic,, MH must have told our owners this though because they seem very happy to finance his spending a vote of confidence in my books.

are you having a laugh? in the same post you write 'we are in a relegation battle' and 'thanks MH i am very grateful'. it's because of him that we are in a relegation battle and therefore not able to attract 'fantastic signings'.

cannot believe it has got to a position where some fans are grateful that we can get players to help us not get relegated and 'save us'. don't know what pisses me off more. our league position or the steady downturn in fans expectations and their willingness to accept mediocrity.

LMAO, the club has spent the last few weeks stating quite catagorically that we would
only pay "market value" for players, it doesn't matter whether we are skint or not, paying over
the odds for players just makes us look like chumps or Newcastle, take your pick.

As for your childish "negative newbie" statement, well I'll just put that down to
the fact that you've probably got school in the morning and aren't used to being up
so late. No wonder your yawning.
