Intresting and positive.
However due to the credit crunch there are some fantastic players available if you have the money and we have.
Its not all about money though and the fact we are in a relagation battle and unlikely to play in Europe next season makes these Fantastic signings unlikely.
So we are in a position where we can get good players to ensure we are not relagated and have a mediocre season. These players are not be able to get us into a top 4/5/6 but I am glad they are here to save us.
Thanks MH I am very grateful ;-)

are you having a laugh? in the same post you write 'we are in a relegation battle' and 'thanks MH i am very grateful'. it's because of him that we are in a relegation battle and therefore not able to attract 'fantastic signings'.

cannot believe it has got to a position where some fans are grateful that we can get players to help us not get relegated and 'save us'. don't know what pisses me off more. our league position or the steady downturn in fans expectations and their willingness to accept mediocrity.
I was taking the piss, notice the ;-)

people blame mark hughes , bollocks this is svens attitude ,it was with england and it is with us ...

Didn't realise that Sven is still with the club. Damn that man! Come on Hughes find out where he is hiding and banish him before he works anymore of his Swedish mojo on our players

Its like the f**king twilight zone on here sometimes...
sven aint with the club but his lack of fooking passion and fight still is , and if you cant see that then maybe its you in the twilight zone my friend
point im making is the players we need in this window are ones who give a shit ones who prefer winning to losing , call me a rag if you want but the roy keane (spit) type of player

why wouldnt he buy his kind of player? and also "paying over the odds" so fkn wot. we are hardly skint . another negative newbie, even bigger fukkin yaaawwwwwnnnnn

LMAO, the club has spent the last few weeks stating quite catagorically that we would
only pay "market value" for players, it doesn't matter whether we are skint or not, paying over
the odds for players just makes us look like chumps or Newcastle, take your pick.

As for your childish "negative newbie" statement, well I'll just put that down to
the fact that you've probably got school in the morning and aren't used to being up
so late. No wonder your yawning.
look, i dont give a shit if we pay over the odds,as long as that player is worthy then so what, i dont see the big deal, you obviously do , so go on explain the big fkn deal. and you are very negative.

I would not say it is impossible to finish top 6 this season, this is one of the tightest premierships for years, and if we make more decent signings who knows, if anyone can do it we can.

We have to face the facts he has inherited a piss poor side, and maybe our expectations were a bit unrealistic,, MH must have told our owners this though because they seem very happy to finance his spending a vote of confidence in my books.

Cant agree with you there at all. He inherited a good side, has had £60mil + of signings, and the fucker is still moaning, hes demoralised every fucker, turned our defence into a nervous wreck. Has got us to a relagation battle and we should be grateful hes gonna save us.
Come on he aint right,,,,however I will still give him till end of Feb

Agreed. A few points off top ten and it just needs some fine tuning really.

Good post. I have come to terms with the fact that these are the type of players needed to get us back in contention for Europe. Hughes cant fail or he loses his job and dents his reputation. Apart from the money, what type of proposition are we really? I believe these players will do a really good salvage job, but after then, what happens? Well, I will think about then right now we are in a scrap regardless of how you look at it!

well you can't tell at the moment and the :) could have been taken as genuine as opposed to sarcastic coz some people are still backing him -which is fair enough coz each to their own - but how anyone can hand on heart say he's the one to take us forward i'll never know.
apologies for not detecting your piss take ;)

Come on man, he didn't inherit a good side, he inherited a side with good individuals and thats the big difference

Come on fella, a good manager can gell individuals into a good side, especially those that have been playing together for a season. Sven did the hard work, Hughes wel....dismantled any potential.

I dont think that it is possible to gell indivduals into a good side, you need team players. Parker and VK in the midfield is a great start IMO

Exactly we need team players which we are sadly lacking

Not quite true though is it? For a start we weren't a good side towards the end of last season and that's the side he inherited. To that he's added Zabaleta, SWP, Kompany, Robinho, Jo and TBH.

Zabaleta is basically a swap for Corluka.

SWP gives us pace down the right whereas we've lost Petrov offering the same down the left, so no gain there either.

Kompany is basically replacing the now past it Hamann and also having to do the work of the missing Johnson as well. Again no gain really.

Jo and TBH for whatever reason haven't settled.

So ultimately our only gain has been Robinho but to some degree that may have resulted in a loss of balance to the side (still glad we got him though). Our 2 performances before he signed were quite impressive and I think he may have upset that balance somewhat. Now Hughes has to try and address that.

We are trying to play a more attacking and expansive game now and as a result our defence is getting more exposed which Hughes is also trying to address.

Funnily enough some criticising Hughes' buys are also hoping to see Mourinho get the job. Didn't he also buy Bridge and Parker (as well as SWP and TBH)?

Bridge and Parker are buys that will bring some much needed balance to the side and I expect to see a couple more similar signings and then possibly one of the flair players. At this time we need a mix of steel and flair which we just don't have presently but which I expect we will have by the end of January.

which of svens signings would you keep ?

It wasnt about Sven signings it was about the team Hughes inherited.

I would keep Elano... to keep Hughes on his toes.
I would keep Corluka.....ooops hes gone
I would keep Garrido...seems to be improving
I would keep.Caciedo... great potential
Fernandez I would keep, i dont know why, but hes not a left winger and funnily enough played better last season.
Benjani I would keep just to bring a smile to MCFC
Geovani...I would have kept to see where he fit in, but there again hes Brazillian, scxored against the Rags.

I'd like to see how this forum would have reacted if someone told them a month ago we'd be signing Scott Parker in the transfer window. They'd have ripped the shite out of the poster.

I understand what your saying.
But I am sick to death of hearing about this balance.

Is balance playing SWP as a CM, MIcah as LB Vas as RW, crikey the list goes on.

But yes these new signings are positive, I am pleased and I cant wait to see them play and cheer them on.

No but the lack of balance has caused those tactical abomintions

Yet Hughes was here for most of the summer and didn't balance the squad when it apparently should have been obvious?

Thats a poor excuse, was it Kompanny or Fernandez he made to play RB, cant remember, but there are loads more of where Hughes has made us unbalanced.
Please tell me this has never crossed your mind.
