A 5O year old, wheelchair reliant, blue, I have finally been persuaded to enter the 21st century and buy my very first smart phone in time for Christmas

Trouble is there's so much choice out there that I'm at a loss at which kind to get. I've heard that the iphone can be pretty temperamental when it comes to inter-acting (ie sending pics, vids etc) with other brands of smart phone, so was wondering if, an android phone or blackberry would be a better bet in that regard..

I would be grateful, to fellow blues, for any help and impartial advice on the matter

cheers

It comes down to what your used to mate, i phone is probably the best out there but i'm used to Blackberry. Took me a while to get used to it after 'growing up' with nokia bricks.

Whatever you pick if its your first one it will probably take you a while to understand it, I know I did but as a self confessed technophobe, if I can get used to it anyone can.

Evening GeorgeHeslop'sTackle,

I hate phones myself (to easy for people to bug me) alas they are a necessary evil for work.

I would advise the samsung galaxy s2, it is a top phone and has all the app developers attention more and more aka it is getting very future proof. I wont judge if your a gamer or not from your age but as an example the new grand theft auto will be compatible with it, this was a primary issue with the developers as far as i know.

I do not own one but will do soon. It has a dual core processor in laymans terms it is powerful and fast add that to what i wrote above and your looking at a phone you will not need to change anytime soon.

I hope this helps :)

Edit:: Here is a review from a respected testing site <a class="postlink" href="http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones/mobile-phones/samsung-galaxy-s2-930907/review" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.techradar.com/reviews/phones ... 907/review</a>

Edit2:: Great minds and all that jazz glen :p

Iv'e had HTC's for years now would never change for an I phone. They're on Android so most apps are free. no complaints and if u don't mind getting 1 thats older(new phone just older model than the next big thing) u can get quite good deals! A few years ago i got a HTC Hero white should've been £35 but cos a deal on white got 35% off so only paid £23 a month! If ur new to smartphones and 50 years old,u dont need the dogs bollox £45 a month I phone and a couple of quid every time u want a new app. Look on review sites and comparison sites, 1 thing i do advise is make sure u get enough minutes on ur deal, don't go over can cost a lot. I have HTC desire S and very happy with it. Hope this helped. :)

Google a few sites and forums for user knowledge and info.
I've had a HTC wildfire now for 18 months. I use it on here all the time and haven't had any problems apart from battery life.(an industry wide problem)Those were remedied significantly by making a few adjustments mostly with the display.
I'm sure you'll enjoy a smartphone whichever one you choose.
