Is it just me or is something just not right?, I don’t believe that some off our players are pulling their weight like the others, before some start saying it is an outrageous suggestion, please explain to me how players like Elano and Robinho can put in World Class individual performances like they did against World Champions Italy the other night ,Elano was spraying the ball from left to right tracking back, I had to rub my eyes in disbelief, then we have Robinho WTF has happened to him ?,against Italy he was awesome, yet today as he was last week, and the week before that he has been absolute garbage for us.

Is Robinho now engineering a move away from the club for himself?

We have all heard of the bust up prior to the warm weather training in Tenerife, so we know that there have been problems, I just get the feeling our results could have been much different if Robinho ,Elano and even Jo had put in a bit more effort for City.

This squad was more than good enough to finish in the top 6.

I honestly believe all is not as it should be at the club, and if it is not sorted out soon it could have a detrimental effect on the rest of the season.

If our star players are not performing we are in serious trouble,

I think we are fast arriving at the stage where something has got to give for us to move on.

Totally agree... I was at the game yesterday and it was the worst performance I have seen in a long while. On the journey back, all I heard was Stan Collymore on Talksport trying to single out Robinho and Elano for yesterdays result. In the cold light of day it was not good enough from any of the players, the only player who comes away from it with any sort of credit was Shaleum Logan. The players need to take more responsibility for our current performances. The manager needs to get them on training pitch to work on the basics. I cannot workout the system they are currently playing. The ball seems to be played from one side to the other with no cutting edge. I feel that we need to take the game to our opponents more instead of waiting for holes to appear round the back that are not going to appear. Portsmouth too their credit defended well yesterday and didn't give our players no space or time. It was clear that we lack height in the squad, but we need to be more patient, keep the ball on the floor and play to our strengths. It just seems at the moment every team we play has worked out how to play to play against us, so Hughes needs to mix things up a bit. It is not fair to single out one or two players we need to keep focused and look to improve on the problems we have at the moment. Unfortunately Hughes is again under more pressure. For the time being he has my support...

I think your right, something is very wrong, but it goes much deeper than the 3 players you talk about. Little things here and there, but put together show that the club is far from happy. The supposed "meeting with the players" Elano, TBH and Hamann where the players that reported as having gone to see him to complain about the training the players where undergoing. Everyone picks on the Elano part the lazy Brazilian, but consider the other 2, TBH for all that he is a limited player(at this level)was in the Israeli Army, thus I am sure is used to shall we say "basic" training methods. Hamann is a ex-German international that no one has ever claimed as anything other than a true model professional and one that I'm sure has worked under more world class coaches than anyone at the club. Since complaining about the training system he has of course also been injured(in training)and will likely never play again for the club. That brings me to the next point the clubs injuries so far this season we have had a fair number of them and a number of which raise questions about Hughes and his staff and/or the moral within the club. Before the Villa game, we had Benjani(injered in training), then as the players where warming up in a supervised environment we lost Bojinov, again this asks questions of the skills of the people working at the club. Within weeks of that the club had to add Johnston and Etuhu to that list(again both injured outside match environment). Once we got Benjani back, he as you will all remember re-injured himself but continued to play in the next game only to knock himself out for months. Finally let's talk about the situation we Sturridge, as many have pointed out, IF the sort of money he is looking for is true, clearly he can't get it elsewhere then surely the answer is tied to the fact that under Hughes the club is unhappy and players would sooner play elsewhere for less than under Hughes. One interesting point I have noticed Bellamy(the player closest to Hughes)warms-up alone from the other players and with the coaching staff(before the team drills).

MH has a style of management that works at a "level."
He took over the club on a "disciplinarian" ticket after Thaksin got pissed off with Sven's apparent laid-back attitude with the likes of Elano.
But the whole game changed when ADUG came in.
The demands on MH are way above his current capabilities. He's now expected to attract and manage star players without any previous experience.
In the same way that the ginger kid with the NHS specs was never going to get the fit girl at school-MH is learning that his managerial "L" plates, tactical naivety and empty CV just don't add up with top-class footballers.
And it shows.

For me, the problem is pretty obvious. We are a team in transition on 2 fronts...

1) New players taking time to bed in and get to know each other, manager expectations etc

2) Perhaps more importantly...trying to find our balance. At start of season we were to open, top scorers in league but couldn't defend. Now he's playing 2 holding players - defence better but we're not the threat we were going forward.

He's probalby waiting for Dunne to come back so he can play Kompany with De Jong - Kompany can spot a pass and hopefully our balance will be better.

Spot on, even with the dubious ginger analogy, I mean he might have a huge willy that he just needs to get out for the ladies.

I recon the tail is tryng very hard to wag the dog at the club...its not getting its way and is having a strop about it!!!

I saw Hughes interviewed before yesterday's match and he said we were playing well. We were not and something is up with that. I mean, something is up if thats what he believed.

Moyes over 5 at Everton. In year 1, MON had a period of 16 games when Villa won 2. In Moyes 2nd year at Everton, they finished 17th, culminating with a 5-1 debarcle. Both managers would have been fired for that at City & most people on this board would have wanted them out. This is the sad truth.
