I have no problem people from overseas supporting English teams, its just the rag ones that come on here telling blues to "fuck off",that shit me.
Plus as an Irishman you must admit that they have a huge Irish following.

The English game in general,i see a few City fans springing up ine the last 3 years. How would you feel if you saw an Irish invasion in the coming years ? You can be honest.

Thats a hard one,on one hand it would mean that we were successful but on the other, knowing the new "fans" are only here because of shiny things will piss me off.
If in ten years we have alot of young (under 20) irish fans i could understand, but older ones must have jumped ship and thats not on,for me.(thats not including the many Irish fans we now have and have had for awhile)

He told Viva Ronaldo to fuck off who is another red not a blue.

on the topic... we've acquired fans abroad faster than I thought, and I don't thinkthey're plastics for the most part, I think they're good quality fans - judging from the vlogs and videos of American blues and the posts of Aussies/Yanks/Italians/Scandinavians etc etc on here, their knowledge level is good and their enthusiasm level is good and for all the rush to label people gloryhunters - we haven't actually won a raffle yet, we've got some great players and bags of potential to do so, but that's not the same thing and even people supporting for blatantly those reasons doesn't leave a sour taste in the mouth like it does when stacks of trophies come FIRST. Respect to all overseas fans I say, and tell anyone to GTFO who calls you plastic.

Also, can we stop this myth that there have never been any numbers of City fans outside the north-west prior to our most recent years, 'cos it just isn't true. I'm not pretending there's been huge contingents, but there have always been there. I'm one and I've met others. It's just always tended to be quality rather than quantity ;)

Good post. City will sell tickets to all overseas fans because they don't just buy a match day ticket but spend a fortune on shirts and merchandise. the average fan probably spends a 1/4 of a foreign visitor.

In my son's year 6 class here in adelaide there are now 2 other city fans apart from him,and neither have any connection with m/c. In my 20 odd years living here on and off I have never met another city fan who was not a manc. I reckon that is a sign that we are getting more attention and support outside of blighty.

We see it in the media with more reporting of us. Ironically i reckon the big spending bullshit has actually helped us in that neutrals or non footie fans are starting to take notice. I've said on here before that a mate of mine who works in a sports store told me that the ratio of shirt sales last year was 50% Rags, 20% Arse 20% chelski and 10% dippers and the occasional city shirt. Now he reckons about 1 in 6 shirts sold are ours. Very good signs for the future. Do we want them? Fook yeah. This idea that everyone who supports the team(especially overseas) has to have our level of obsessiveness about the blues is ridiculous. Remember when we were everyones second favourite team? I hated that because of the patronising implication that we were never a threat.

More fans, be they made of plastic or anything else is good for the development of the club, and will be critical when twatini's FFP regime starts to bite

Whether we like it or not (and I for one love it) we are not longer a cult team

Every blue that actually goes to COMs on a regular basis will know at least 3 or 4 or in my case many more blues that have stopped going for whatever reasons, with the expansion of the ground (soon please) and a successful team, these are the fans we need to start bringing back into the fold `first` unlike the Heinz `58` varieties attracted for all the wrong reasons. That said I have no beef against anyone from anywhere sat next to me as long as they`re BLUE, more the merrier.
As a side note IMO its `us` the mad fans of City that have spread the word and have helped steadily increase our support over the years, i`ve introduced a few people to the faith who are now season ticket holders ;)) FFS its not the cups and glory they come for now is it ???
