Thats not an eagle.

Its a phoenix that keeps rising out of the ashes.

From Dickov to Sergio and all points in between. :-)
 
It's a European Golden Eagle, used by the Romans as a standard, and known by many as simply a Roman Eagle.

It's taken from the XX Legion, Valeria Victrix, that had soldiers quartered in Castlefields. The XXth legion's own emblem was a wild boar (signifiying courage and determination unto death), but they also carried the eagle (as notice of their honour).
