Songs directly referencing Manchester

Sorry if mentioned and I overlooked it:

Elbow - Forget Myself

They're pacing Piccadilly in packs again
And moaning for the mercy of a never come rain
The sun's had enough and the simmering sky
Has the heave and the hue of a woman on fire

Shop shutters rattle down and I'm cutting the crowd
All scented and descending from the satellite towns
The neon is graffiti singing make a new start
So I look for a plot where I can bury my broken heart

So that's the whole of Manchester for you.

Is Timperley in Manchester?

The boys are back in town` Thin Lizzy, supposed to be about Manny.

And Jimmy the Weed meets Johnny the Fox is about Jimmy Donnelly,a famous Manchester resident(QSG),who was a friend of Phil Lynott.

The Manc hip hop scene of the late 80s/early 90s was fertile ground for this kind of stuff.
Chapter and The Verse did an album called Great Western Street, which included a track called Claremont Road. Two great Maine Road/Moss Side locales. Another track (can't remember which off the top of my head) namechecks Southern Cemetery.
The mighty Ruthless Rap Assassins had No Tale, No Twist about growing up in North Hulme, and Posse Strong, about Legends in town, where their producer and manager Greg Wilson was DJ.
Their two best known classics did not have direct references but were about here. It Wasn't A Dream was about Jamaican immigration to Manchester in the 50s and 60s and the video showed them in the crescents in Hulme and the back alleys near Maine Road. No Justice was about their experiences as black youth in urban Britain with a video filmed at the Champs Camp boxing gym in Moss Side.
