Mood: Nostalgia, sombre reflection, part of your life which you enjoyed has finished and you're running headlong into the future - with mixed apprehension but some optimism.

Mood: Uplifting, happy, optimistic - yes, I am aware this is at odds with the lyrical content of the song which is a depressing exploration of drug addiction giving brief uplifts to an otherwise un-charmed existence, the source of which is probably the drug addiction itself... However, I associate this song with the end of American Pie - hence youthful opportunity, excitement, unknown destinies to be fulfilled.

Can't be the only one who plays a song on repeat when they're in a certain mood. Please share. :-)

I like the original, but it doesn't have that 'wall of sound' feel. It's very raw, like a student demo.

I listened to the rest of that album once. Never again...
