I really am not confident of getting a result in the second leg. Why? because a place like Stoke is exactly where our tactics will not work. We needed a energetic dominant midfielder and a new fullback. We got neither

dont get me wrong i still think we'll win at both stoke games but there should be no need for a replay, we should have hammered hull, we are pretending to be a top 4 club instead of stamping on team like the rags and chelsea do.

we need players that by their names are fighters, winners, who are not just pleased to be in the side at last.

lets pick out matin petrov, seriously what the fuck is going to do against stoke, he going to shit it thats what.thats just what he did do.look at swp a grafter and a fighter with no mean skill, he's been at the very top table and you can tell.
that work permit shit, what was that all about? why wait for the last week to put that deal together?
fucking scandalous.

we are wadded, use that to stamp our mark, its the only thing in our favour, the other top 4 candidate are way ahead of us in everything else.

The only thing that makes sense to me is the 6 month probation period. That would explain why we were trying to do loan deals for that period and nothing more.

You'd think with our resources we wouldn't need to scrimp for 6 months and instead we'd buy the players the manager we installed required, or even begin buying the palyers our long term manager required.

Only PV on loan, we have signed Johnson and tried to sign Mariga who were both long term.

Ahh, of course. I was thinking of the Flamini and Gago deals.

I stiil dont understand ours trategy in the last transfer window, plus, the fact we havnet reached our goals yet and the arrival of a new manager, i think we should have been expecting to spend a few quid in order to support our new managers plans. The fact we didn't is what makes me wonder about who'll be in charge come summer.

You said loan deals and nothing more, thats all i was pointing out.

We're not hanging onto the coattails of the top 4, we've made ground on every one of our rivals in the past few months.

Things are not as bad as everyone is making out.

Which top players were we supposed to sign? The type of player who'd make a big difference is few and far between. There just isn't that much available that would have made a dramatic difference to the squad. If we want to be a top club we need to be looking at players such as Torres, Messi, Fabregas but even if we could convince them to come to City they're never going to be sold in January.

Hughes probably had a well prepared list of targets for the January window, as he had visited a few European locations before he was sacked. I think the powers that be were panicked into getting rid of him by all the draws, and the negative vibes that were building up in the press, in the stands, before he could go out and spend their money on another 3 or 4 players.

Johnson was probably on Hughes' list, as he said after he came that he had heard whispers that City were after him earlier in the season. Bobby probably didn't fancy any of the others and wanted to make his own purchases, but without the preparation Hughes had. We would have got the Kenyan lad, but the Home Office mysterious 'panel' who reviewed the case obviously decided that we shouldn't have him.

Trouble with us City fans these days is we are like spoilt kids in a sweet shop; "why can't I have these sweets mummy, after all, we can afford to buy the whole shop?"
