South Africa vs. Mexico (Match Thread)

Although I think Mexico have a far better team I can see a draw in this match. It's the 1st game of the tournement and I don't think the organisers will want the home team to get beat - I wouldn't be surprised to see a dodgy pen given to the home side if they are getting beat. I watched a friendly match a couple of weeks ago SA v Columbia and in the 1st 5 minutes the ref gave them a very dubious pen and when the penalty was saved the ref asked for it to be re-taked and they scored 2nd time around. I am very worried that there standard of refereeing will be poor and expect many 'debatable' decisions - I hope I'm proved wrong. If this game was played at a neutral venue I would definitely back Mexico but as I said earlier I can see a draw - prediction 1-1.

Erm all the referees are International neutral referees from FIFA's panel.
South Africa has one single referee that made the cut, as I recall.

I can see your logic, though, how a referee from Brazil, or Argentina, or Germany would favour SA over Mexico.

OK, no I can't.

I agree with your prediction of a draw - I am going for 0-0 or 1-1.

On paper Mexico should cruise this and the odds are generous. 12th man might make a difference but I doubt it.

i have south africa in the sweep stake. come on you mighty yellows.......might buy one of those GAY scarves.

Whatever happened to Sven's Mexican wonder kid Nery Castillo?

Big things were expected but was a huge disapointment for us
