The things he's done for that country..I don't think I could justly come up with the right adjectives to describe his outstanding work.
Just an incredible man who changed thee face of their country for the better.
Nice post, such a shame a family tragedy happened on the eve of the tournament.
True, very true. I remember the impact he had on South Africa winning the rugby world cup in 95, bringing rugby to all the people and uniting the country, it was a major step towards the reconciliation when he presented the trophey wearing a South African jersey, to Francois Pienaar. An incredible moment in their history.
And it was only right that he was there when they won in again in 07.
"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." Mandela.
"For seventeen days, they are roommates. For seventeen days, they are soulmates. And for twenty-two seconds, they are competitors. Seventeen days as equals. Twenty-two seconds as adversaries. What a wonderful world that would be. That's the hope I see in the Olympic Games"
He's a great believer of the good in people.

-- Fri Jun 11, 2010 1:25 pm --

I wish ye could see the RTE coverage of the world cup. It's not even started and they're off again.
The 3 were asked if they would like to see England do well, they said, they're football men, and of course they'd like to see players like Rooney and co do well..(no doubt that will change as time goes on) and their only problem with it is that the trouble they'll have is the English media they'll have to stomach afterwards.
So they thought that was that untill the presenter pulled out 3 English jerseys, Dunphy being himself, said..well eh..ya I'd wear it, he then pulled out one with Souness on it and he looked like he was going to throw up on it, said he wouldn't go that far and Giles..well he remained silent.
Brilliant stuff. Haha. I wish ye could see it.
