Southampton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We needed a player who can break the lines and change the game.

Pep got it wrong today, KDB should have come off after 50 minutes and Marmoush should have come on
Totally understand the club's reason for letting KDB go after today, it's done and dusted, The draw leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, but it's not the end of the world and we have 2 more games and a FA Cup final to look forward to
Kdb stunk the place out today apart from his pass to Haaland his passing and crossing was very poor.

No hunger from majority of our players apart from Doku and Marmoush! Haaland played like he said earlier that the hunger had gone!

Palace will be so up for it next week that we will get hammered if we play like that today!

It's going to be edgy ......

It's good to see everyone's keeping calm and not over reacting.
Are you serious?

The easiest by far of our last 3 games, against a team that is relegated and has 11 points.

Bournemouth and Fulham are both decent sides capable of giving us a game.

A week before a Cup Final too!

That is totally unacceptable, could've secured top 5 with a win. Our challengers for top 5 will be spurned on by our result.

I think people are perfectly entitled to "over react"

Did you watch it, we were fucking terrible.

I hope Khaldoon is asking WTF is going on over there, some serious talking should take place this summer, what we have achieved is in the past, this last season is simply unacceptable for an elite club.

Just a reminder this is possible

Liverpool win the league
United win the Uefa cup and qualify for the UCL
We lose an FA Cup Final
We finish 6th.

I'm just going to throw up then remember that this is better than everything in the 80s and 90s and 00s and then I'm going to throw up again.

Very underwhelming performance despite the number of shots we had. I just can't get my head around playing a system that doesn't get the best from our forward players. I get picking Erling when he's fit but to then prefer a system that slows it right down doesn't get the best out of him. Any team no matter how bad they are will defend easier when they don't have to deal with pace and quick passing.

Every game Lewis starts at right back you know we will revert to playing super slow as he will be charged with being the player to create space and set the tone of our play. Added to having Bernie not able to go past anyone anymore and we have no real idea on how to get past a set defence. I get changing the team on a gut feeling but too many changes and we suddenly have no rhythm. I also don't feel Savinho will ever be the player that makes the difference for us - he is very wasteful and the stats back that up. He needs to be much, much better.

Hopefully we can still qualify and get something from the last 2 games but for the first time I'm a little concerned that the greatest manager in our history cannot see the wood from the trees with this current group and has run out of ideas - and that is quite mad...hope I'm wrong.

Today was a game made for Jack and maybe Nico to pass through the lines - Kev can't do that as much on a regular basis and what have you got to lose trying something different in a game drifting away from you?

Right from the off we didn't look at it today. At least it's convinced me that we have done the right thing with DeBruyne, age waits for no one and he's a busted flush unfortunately. Can't believe we didn't start with at least one of Doku or Savinho, we had absolutely no width and our passing was way too slow to find a way through the middle. Still not convinced by Rico either, squad player at best.

If I'd travelled down there I'd want my money back.
Something is SERIOUSLY wrong in the background, and I'm not ecstatic about Erlings ""We haven't had fully the hunger inside of us".
If Pep can't get his head right, and I don't know what the issue is but there clearly is one based on selections, I don't see things moving forward next season.

I'd agree with some of that for sure mate, but I would temper it with we can't win it all all of the time and whist this isn't our best season under Pep we are still in the top 3 best sides this season incredibly.

Good points about speculating about motivation though, something is amiss.
