Southampton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

Maybe so... But Marmoush is better than anything on display. Lets nit kid ourselves. It was a stupid decision not starting him.
I agree he should have started, Earl takes a few games to get back in his stride.

The problems are so deep though, its not really about starting one player over another.

If we get the rebuild right, it would still take 3 season.

I don't trust the recruitment team based on the last 2 years, and the names of players we looking at really makes you worry.

Just got to get over the line now. Simple.

We drew a game.

Pep is the best manager in the world, and his set ups won us 4 titles in a row.

One off season and people on here have lost their minds.
How do we know it's a one off season. There's no excuses left for turning out shit performances week in week out which is exactly what we've been doing since October. The players are now playing once a week so the tired excuse is gone, we're missing Rodri , Stones and Bobb now plenty of cover in the squad, that excuse gone. It's been utter shite and Pep has failed miserably with the players he's had available and he'll admit that.
200m splashed in January yet not one of those signings started today, wtf has happened there, does Pep not rate any of them?
Not losing our minds just totally frustrated with the garbage we're churning out each week, it's proper lower prem stuff

we need to absolutely gut this squad and start again. We’re entertaining the likes of McAtee, akanji, Lewis, khuzanov, reis. How far we have fallen. Could savinho, grealish, Nunez, doku or kovacic get in a team that’s pushing to make the last 4 of the CL? KDB, Bernardo and gundogan were once greats but are now absolutely finished. Foden’s had a nightmare. Haaland turns up when it suits him. The only plus points are marmoush, o’reilly and Bobb. FACTS
I think we all realise that but some of us are concerned about the quality of our recent signings and how quicky Rodri will get back up to speed. In respect of the Christmas signings we are going into next season not really knowing, apart from Marmoush, how good they are and whether they offer anything.

Pep needs to have a long smoke of his cigar and work out why he got it completely wrong today.

We need to sell Foden and Haaland? Lol.
to be honest Haaland offers nothing out of possession and Foden's form has dipped when he needed to step up to the plate. Its no coincidence that has KDB's talents have started to wain that Bernardo and Phil have been poor. Bernardo is at the wrong end of his career so form doesn't matter for him, but Foden really needs to get his form back and fast else all that's gone maybe as good as it gets for Phil.

agreed, maybe he is the issue?
Well it was certainly on him today. He chose to totally rip up a winning team to accommodate Haaland and mess with the equilibrium of the team. The greatest manager in history for me and I adore the man, but he does make major fuck ups from time to time.

What wrong with MGW? ;-)

Foden was awful and Haaland offered nothing.

I’m not fussed about the result today. We should be beating them though. We’ve been piss poor tactically and in terms of effort, execution and creativity all season.

My biggest gripe is that we’re so fucking boring to watch. Same pass to the same player over and over and over again. It’s too patient and too risk averse. They are playing in handcuffs. He’s got players that other managers would kill for and he’s not using them properly.

Boring.

More I think about it, the angrier I am about today. Exacerbated by Pep’s and Dias’ comments post match.

We’ve a heck of a long way to go to even compete for a PL title never mind a CL, which makes me question whether the club have decided that we’ve achieved the pinnacle so no need to strive for more.

Let’s see how many day trippers turn up if next season is the same. There’ll be loads of new season tickets available all of a sudden!

Twats.

...but how many trebles did these players get? Did they win four titles in a row?

You're doing a disservice to the current players because you're angry we didn't win today or win 5 titles in a row.

They’re past it now though, it was a season too far.

They were superb in Pep’s system for those trophy wins, but time nor football stand still.

The mentality has gone
You have to beat team like Southampton can’t moan they don’t play football
That was utter shite
Got exactly what they deserved
Team crammed full of cowards who won’t take control and just pass the ball to someone else

Too many changes to the starting line but had we have won then nothing would have been said. Haaland should have started on the bench along with Lewis and Akanji. Back four should have stayed the same. Team selection for Palace is crucial as they are a far better team defensively and on the counter than Southampton.

Go back to the winnng side.

KDB is trying too hard and can’t execute what he sees in his head. Gives it away or overhits it more than I’ve ever seen him do.

I don’t know why pep is persevering with him for the full 90 any more.

Given we all know he’s leaving, surely he should be looking to phase him out a bit quicker to bed in Foden or Grealish or even o’reilly?

I think Pep’s biggest fault is his sentimentality. Must be difficult for him as Pep also must be able to see KDB struggling

Bizarre comment. Nobody is disputing that, but he got it wrong today.

Me calling out those calling for Pep's head because we drew a game is bizarre?

By all means question the team he picked and then not doing subs until late but calling for him to go is over the top.
