Southampton (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I'd argue that having the best striker in the world is a plus for city and perhaps we don't bore him to tears every game by ignoring his runs and instead having a midfielder doing a pirouette in the middle before giving it to akanji, to give it back to the pirouetted player to give it wide after a pirouette to then get it back and then lob the ball in and hope for the best.

He's quite simply at the wrong club for his style/strengths. It's sad to see.

Dias is not a fucking clown.

Plenty of other of our players over the years have criticised teams who just defend all match and don't try to win.

So much anger and negativity on this site.
I'm sure Ruben will be fine he's sat at home with his 250k a week fix, You don't need to stick up for him because he got called a clown.

He should keep his mouth shut an concentrate on his own performance and our own teams performance instead of taking a pop at Southampton.

Southampton set up to get a point and they got it, It's up to us to break them down, He was pissing and moaning throughout the game too, Get on with it, Stop spending so much time arguing with the referee and play the game.

We have scored 1 goal against the worst PL team only Everton have equalled that and they play them in the last match at Goodison Park.

Every other PL teams has scored at least 2 goals.
But Southampton didn't play in a low block against most teams. They had a manager who played out from the back and took chances.

Yep, correct. We have quite a few entitled Blue Moaner clown fans in our fanbase. They just expect a procession of stellar seasons like the players are robots. We're having one down season in nine (remarkable). Dias is regarded across the world as a world class defender. We're in a Cup Final and two wins away from the Champions League.

...because it's worked for him. It's worked for him so much that he's made us the most successful team in this country for the last decade.

But we've been shite in far too many games this season, and Pep has no credible plan B.

The past is the past. Pep is looking more like yesterday's man with every game. It's time for a change.

I really don't buy into this 'credit in the bank' bullshit that some people use to defend Pep, and I maintain my view that he (and KDB) should have left City after winning the CL.

We are extraordinarily boring to watch. No one, except Blues wants to watch us. We're 100 million miles away from the 100 points team and a fair distance away from the Treble team. Hopefully Pep will sort it.
Nailed it.

Boring boring City.

What has how much money he gets got to do with anything? Also, about time we have someone in the refs ear all the time sticking up for the team.

You're just pissed off we didn't win. So you're sticking up for Southampton instead of our players.

After rage comes depression.

I was boiling at the final whistle, but now it's really sunk in, like a dark low-lying cloud, what a God Almighty cock-up that was. We could have been comfortable tonight, and gone into Saturday's match in a good frame of mind. That's out the window now. Of the three that remained, that should have easily been the game we had the least trouble with.
Having done the hard work against Everton, Villa, Wolves — all potentially tricky games where a draw in at least one of them would not have surprised me in the least — the players must be utterly kicking themselves tonight. But we struggled in those three games too — that's the truth. We've not been genuinely good since last summer.
We may qualify for the CL. We may win the F.A. Cup. But there are hard questions to be asked, and short-time satisfactions should not deflect them. Pep's paid a cartload of money to answer them. Is he still the right man? I… think so. How can you say not, when you look back at the incredible riches of the last eight years. But is it the time to look back, now?
But part of that problem today definitely came from him. He starts Doku, Savinho, Marmoush and maybe Nico O'Reilly at the start of the second half, or shortly after it, when it still meant something, and I think we have a very good chance of breaking them down and going out say 2-0 to the good.
Ah, fuck it!
We're the sixth highest Prem net spenders of the last five years - fourth highest Prem net spenders of the last ten years.

I hope you are correct as that's what I'd love to see Marmoush playing in behind Haaland should be the way forward...

I've a feeling Pep will see things differently and go with Haaland and leave Marmoush on the bench.

Saturday all boils down what Pep comes up with his starting line up.
Pep will play both Haaland and Omar in the final.

We could spunk 300 million in the summer and I still think we'd still see the old turgid tactics.

Thankfully, you have no say in team selection or the selection of our coach. One down season and you're throwing a wobbler.

The good thing about playing in Europa League is that the stress level will be acceptable next season.

If we win it, it will be aha ok fine, and if we lose its not an important trophy anyway

Not getting 3 points here puts more pressure to get wins against Bournemouth & Fulham. Unnecessarily.

Went for small spaces players with no one adequate overlapping for width, making it easy to defend. Bring Doku on and should have brought Nunes on - inverting a winger in Foden/Savinho to run into congestion wasn't exactly big brain thinking. Disappointed in how long it took Pep to make changes

so successful in The Champions League though. Who can forget the fuck up in 20/21

It seems entitled is the new buzz word, you cam say what you like, but today we created nothing we were clueless, slow in build up, allowed the worst team in the league to play how they wanted, rightly so fans are dissapointed by that, but credit to you, you used the entitled word, lots of.respsct coming.yout way from the happy clappers

Proper whinge fest on here.
So everyone man and his dog expected us to beat Southampton comfortably and we didn't, so now we're embarrassing/a disgrace/crap/useless etc.
Southampton were desperate not to go down with the record lowest Premier league points, and now they've achieved their aim.
We tried against a determined defence in a one sided game but couldn't break them down, that's football, it happens.
We're still 3rd and in a cup final, the majority of clubs in the Premier league would happily swap places.
Plenty of fans on here, not so sure about supporters.

Nice. It'll be a laugh with some cracking away days for those who travel.

He wasn't sticking up for anything, He was getting wound up by Southampton tactics so much to an extent he spent nearly a full minute moaning at the referee delaying the game playing into Southampton hands breaking up the game.

As for your continuous childish remarks of "Ruben isn't a clown" and "Sticking up for Southampton"...It's called not wearing blue tinted glasses like you and calling it as it is...

They played for a point and got it, Yeah they had shithouse tactics and it was up to us to overcome it, We failed the challenge that was set on front of us, You'll feel better if you come to terms with it...

For what it's worth, Ruben has been absolutely abysmal for 10 months, He's made himself look a **** after the game saying what he said, Instead he should suck it up put his big boy pants on and get his act together.
