Agreed, you can see all three teams have improved Arsenal to a lesser degree but all they're missing is CF and possibly a playmaker. We're in need of a few more quality players, fullbacks, CD and midfield. It's going to take a few windows to rebuild for sure so expectatations should be lower next year and try to go for European qualification again (hopefully CL if we can) and of course a cup run.Hunger guys! That is what the squad have to re discover. It is usually brought in by new comers, Owd Whisky Nose knew that hence his ruthlessness in getting rid. It will reappear next season, however we will have a relatively new team whereas Arse, Newcastle and Liverpool will be in a better place than us.
Add me to your concerns. I still get very angry, almost a year on from that shit show of an Fa cup final performance. Absolutely disgusting that they were all out on the puss all week after the 4 in a row.I share your concerns going forward and was absolutely disgusted at the performances against United.
Do you think Pep isn’t bothered now?
Palace don’t seem to mind showing us both how their team plays and how they beat opponents with cut and thrust football!Pep is getting a lot of stick for the line up, which is fair enough. But I suspect he was not wanting to show Palace too much before next week.
But selection aside, most of the players were really poor. Sloppy passing, bad touches, and so lethargic. At times our attacks were like watching OAP walking football. You have to be some player to walk up to a professional footballer and beat him without running, but we tried it constantly. Very frustrating performance.
They still had Russell Martin in charge for the 1-0 first game. They didn't sit in that day, because he was too bloody-minded to adapt, effectively costing his team their PL place by the end of October. But Southampton didn't play in a low block against most teams. They had a manager who played out from the back and took chances.
It used to infuriate, me how he'd insist on playing Sterling on the left, even though Wan-Bissaka would have him in his pocket for the entire match.Pep never seems bothered about losing to the Rags
Is that so?Why did you mention his marriage?
Fuck all to do with the squad, games we play etc
I scraped an O-Level maths in the 60s. Does it mean that we were twenty more times likely to score than Soton? Is that how xG works? The xG was Southampton 0.03 and City 0.67.
Scored against ForestWhen we get a corner now I just sigh. Why bother with them. They never find a blue shirt. Or it's straight into the arms of the keeper who collects it unchallenged. I honestly think we'd be better knocking it out for a throw in from where the corner is being took.
The whole set up and movement in the box is non existent.
We must get the most corners in the league and hardly score from them.
One season when we dip below our incredible standards with the page turning on some stellar careers, and some fans lose faith.Uniquely bad unfortunately:-)
A one season normal blip. It's unique alright. No disputing that.
Next season - we rebuild with new key players. Rodri becomes a £100m new signing - albeit it will be several months (maybe longer) before we see the Rodri we're used to. Every season, Pep tweaks his tactics whereas every other side more less plays the same uniform way. But the basic counter intuitive tactic is passing to players who are being marked and going into crowded areas of the pitch. Normal sides look for the player in space. In Pep's words, you need balls to play in his sides - his CBs have to be prepared to take the ball past opponents (high risk) but it generally rewards us. I'm looking forward to next season. You’re entitled to your opinion, as we all are.
I don’t think next season will be any diffferent because City won’t win the PL title.(in my opinion)
That can be the only difference next season, another PL title win or another CL win (if City get into the CL), and that isn’t happening with this team and squad, not even with Rodri back, and more new signings.
Pep’s tactics, style of play, and formations will still be the same next season.
God forbid, if City getbin the Thursday Night cup, they might win that?
Everyone other side plays the same way every year - better players - better results - one or two duff signings and they slip back. Pep is the most inventive coach in the history of football. I'm confident that next season we'll have players to reignite us.He's done all he can. This season merely underlines that there's very little, if anything left in his tank. He's risk averse, devoid of fresh ideas, and desperately hoping that his old heroes will relive past glories every week.
He's yesterday's man. If he doesn't quit after this season, I'll be convinced that he's only staying for the money.
It begs belief that you would choose Bernardo to make your comparison. He has been revelatory recently and is perpetual motion in midfield, where he is best utilized. From Pep's statements, it seems that his emotions interfere with and affect his decisions. This is concerning and makes me worried about next season as well. In his latest statement, he said that he regretted having to take McCathie off. Why do you feel bad, Pep? McCathie did not play well, so taking him off was the right decision. Now we understand why Pep always insists on playing some players despite their poor performance, such as Bernardo, because he has feelings for them. Therefore, when feelings and not performance become the most important factor in choosing a player, the situation becomes disastrous.
