Southampton (H) | Post-Match Thread

Its weird but if we had drawn against United and Southampton we'd have only got 2 points instead of the 3 we have got but we would be further ahead of United than we are now.
 
Very strange game. Reminded me of seasons past when we looked really good going forward but really shaky at the back. With a truly awful refereeing performance to go with it.

It was both entertaining and frustrating at the same time.

I'd really prefer to see us looking a bit more solid and going back to the Stones and Dias partnership that has done so well for us with Rodri, Bernardo and Gundogan in front of them that played so well in our winning run. KDB, Mahrez and Foden further forward. Should give us the creativity without losing the defensive solidity.
 
I am sick of bent/incompetent refs and VAR.
I am also sick of wankers who post shit on the BBC saying we are "soulless". Whatever the fuck that means. Some twat from fucking Yeovil, who it's a million to one on is a plastic fan of one of the Sky mafia. I wish these twats would focus on their own shit clubs - or rather the teams they profess to support. It's not City's fault that the other "big" teams are badly run and only marginally ahead of Accrington Stanley in modern football understanding.
 
Delighted with a win and a few goals

but that was a weird game and performance

could have won 10-2 but probably could have drawn 5-5

appalling defending by Southampton, who otherwise played really well, gifted us a few goals whilst our defending has nosedived
 
That match needs investigating.
The officials were clearly working to a narrative to create a better title race for the FA.
The challenge on Foden by the keeper was a pen and a red card.
Even simple decisions on throwings, they were giving to southampton even when they had put the ball out.

Really was scary how they can officiate a football match to an agenda.

Anyway fuck them City, top result and top scores in the league.
The more we win, the less the agenda will become cos they won't be able to stop us
 
Normal service resumes. Well, kind of. A win. Three points. Kev back to form. John Moss inept. But defence was shaky. And at 1-1 I was worried. Clearly should have more faith. 14 point gap happy days.
Foden terrific. Mahrez deadly. Nice to see Sergio back on even if he was rusty. Thought we missed Rodri.

Yes we scored 5.

Yes their goals were basically flukes.

Yes Moss is a **** and should have given Foden a penalty.

But that game felt weird, didn't feel like the players were playing our normal game.

Maybe the heavy rotation is causing some issues, but whatever it is, hopefully we get back to our selves a little bit more. Happy for the win, carry on.
 
Not sure what to make of that. Some good passages of play but periods when we were really poor. Credit to Southampton, thought they played really well. Kdb better but still short of usual standard. Walker poor especially 1st half. Laporte poor as well. Fern looked really slow tonight and passing was off. Foden and gundogen superb. Right now to the ref- what a twat, gave us nothing all night backed up by VAR. pleased souness called it out for what it was at half time. Commentary a disgrace, it was like the Tyler and hinchcliffe show - oh you could have done that Andy, oh no Martin I wasn’t very good, don’t be so modest Andy. Fuck off, his summarising was pathetic and the twat should be sacked.
 
We’ve looked a bit off the pace and disjointed last few games but doesn’t help when the officials are that bad, gave us fuck all, and penalties, like someone once said , “with some teams they look for a reason to give them, with others , they look for a reason not to”, think it’s confirmed we’re in the category marked “others” !
 
I don't know if it's a sign of how good we are, how bad Southampton are, or just a weird day, but we've won that at a bit of a canter, scored 5, had a truly ridiculously bent refereeing performance, yet genuinely think that was our worst performance in a long time. Seriously disjointed, massive gaps in midfield, horrible passing for the first half hour, but whenever we managed to string 5 passes together we looked like we'd score (and frequently did). Really weird game.

3 points is the important thing, one more win closer to the title. Need to regain our sharpness ahead of the CL games though because if we play like we did in the first half hour against a top side, the tie would probably be over.
 
Looked nervous first 10 minutes.

Than grew into the game, good solid performance KDB getting up to speed :) Phil everywhere, Bernie not his best , seems to did to play more regularly.

Southampton gave us a good game.

VAR well can just fuck off it has to be bent the keeper lunges in takes out Phil's standing foot.

Phil just said it was a penalty.

Massive 3 points, put the derby behind us, back to winning ways, pressure on the Rags now knowing they need a result on Sunday against a decent West Ham side

side note, a little concerning that conceding has started to creep back in to our game, is that 4 without a clean sheet now
