I'm obviously not expecting anything for us tonight, just hope they don't let themselves down like they have a couple/few times.
Though as we all know, especially this season, anything can happen!

Why oh why oh fucking why did he not start with this line-up against united?

Every experienced battler when the chips are down, leader, ball-player and calm head is on tonight and they would've made mincemeat of a bang average side.
Rarely do i have a bad word to say about all things Pep but not battering the rags when he had the chance is piss poor.

Rant over.

Great team tonight. Goalfest and Foden hat-trick. Come on City.
That is what I think too but maybe Pep has digested the Derby performance and learned from it. That would be great but let's win the game first. Great team on paper

Sorry, I came back!!! Just saw this on the BBC SITE:

"Southampton have lost 9-0 twice in the past 17 months but Pep Guardiola did not take kindly to a question his free-scoring side could inflict a similar scoreline on the Saints.

"We will score 18 - 18-0, this will be the result," responded Guardiola sarcastically at his pre-match news conference.

"What a question! They conceded nine when they played 88 minutes 10 against 11. Do you think this is a joke? We are going to score nine goals or 18?

"Be serious. We are just trying to win the game. It would be an incredible success for us. Win the game, that's all." "

Well said Pep. The stupid so and so's, what a banal weird question to ask!!!

Love this bit as well: "Any club that plays Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears at full volume over the speakers an hour before kick-off at an empty stadium is a winner in my book."

I hope we take you to the cleaners but no offence intended. I have enjoyed watching Saints play this season. Top coach even if the side has run out of steam at times. I am glad there's no Ings tonight.

the team on sunday was all wrong , we had no energy against a counter attacking team, sometimes pep gets it wrong and we on pre- match threads get it right ;)
...and yet it was good enough to get the job done imo. He kept all the energy on the bench, which is fine if you bring them on early h2 to up the tempo....that didn’t happen though, for whatever reason.

I suspect there were other things at play on sunday, politics with Kev, a reset to prevent complacency......I don’t know but it was a weird low energy game.

See you later, if it is on Sky, which I can get on my laptop but hate watching on that, I am going to just watch a couple of things I've recorded........ I'll look a bit daft in my kit and with my scarf on but hey I'm in lockdown, no one coming to my door. !! :-)

Enjoy the match day thread folks and keep cheering along. I might check in every half hour or so. Cheer loudly for me. :-)
hdmi cable?

Very unfair for Stones. The best CB we have and, somehow, I have the feeling that Pep is waiting for one mistake to bench him for good in favour of Dias/Laporte. This was a game for Stones/Laporte as Dias was not very solid in the last 2 games. Either way, we should win this game easily. Foden to score and assist.
Maybe Pep realises he’s our best CB at the moment and doesn’t want him to get injured? Plus, we don’t know how the players’ tests come back between games.
