Kind of expected that kind of game when the team was announced. It was always going to be disjointed when playing players who hardly play and especially hardly play with each other.

Always felt we would win though and we did without it being too taxing on players we need for the league, so it was mission accomplished in the end.

Tell you it’s intensity and intent in the final 3rd that wasn’t good enough the whole game it’s was all safe football until Southampton scored!

Our fringe players with the exception of Nico G, Sones and Ake are just not match ready. I cannot argue with Pep based upon how we have made up places in the league but having more players that can step up would be a big bonus.
Promising signs from Kovacic but he may be too rusty to start in the league this season.

Good win, and also the correct decision to rotate, IMO. It was difficult only in the sense of us being unable to score, but we had all of the ball and all of the chances. Onwards we go.

It's being addressed now. Pep ain't starting him in any league games. He gave him a chance today against a Championship side and he was wank.
