Southampton Post Match Thread

Come on, we're not playing poorly - mistakes have creeped back in defensively and our finishing isn't what it was. No one's unhappy, but we've seen us look like the best team in Europe 5 games ago, but anyone who thinks tonight and against Huddersfield is best team in Europe stuff is kidding themselves.

Ok lol

Pleased with the win, cannot fault any of the players for effort but it's not clear what is the major cause of the dip of form.

The teams we've played recently have set out to waste time, defend and spoil our football(we can't expect every team to try and match us) have they done a better job of spoiling than most teams this season?

Personally I think it's expected that we drop off a little as the players get tired and here's where we have to rotate to avoid injuries and burnout as the minutes pile up on tired legs.

We need to get Gundogan and B. Silva up to speed but it seems to affect our fluidity and movement but they are both more than good enough for this system so we just need to be patient and perhaps expect the overall play to be a little less sharp in the mean time. Danilo has been good, Mangala and Tosin should be used too IMO as dropping a few points now short term is better than picking up more injuries at the back leaving us worse off for longer.

West Ham next.

18th in the league.

Just lost 4-0 to Everton. Fucking Everton!

Let's smash them and get back to our free scoring best.

My heart,my nerves,my finger nails,my arse,my god no more city no more! "I can't take it I tell ya,I can't take it" :)

That rag on five live has just said city 38 points and utd 32 points. Got their total right though didn’t he? Still not corrected.

Southampton were a fucking disgrace and the ref was a clown.

We looked a little lob sided at times but still was better than them.

Foster saved them from being 2-3 goals down more.

Peps reaction and the team at the end said it all, if you don't want to play football (like the saints tonight) then fuck off

And that's your first thought after the ecstasy of a 96th minute winner to remain unbeaten and stay 8pts clear at the top?

i hope i wont see teams play like that against us again, we were up against very good coaches like wagnar and pellegrino, the rest of the league coach dont have the tactical nouns to stiff us, except mou, who will park the bus

Struggling a bit against the busses, but so has every team in history at times. When a good side, with a quality coach and very good players sets up almost purely to defend, it's such a difficult thing to break them down.

Sterling, what a boss! How things have turned for him. Before when he got into a scoring position i was waiting for him to balls it up, now in the 95th minute he get's the chance and i'm expecting him to score. Love it, so happy for him too.

Thought what Gundogan did do was quality, but wasn't involved enough.

Defence had a poor game, other than Otamendi and Ederson.
