I couldn't see a thread for Southampton or purely this situation, so feel free to move this to the appropriate thread if required.

I get these kind of things are accepted in other countries ad leagues, but surely you do your due diligence? Not doing so has cost them big time.

It was ridiculous for the manager to ask his analysts to go and do it, he knew the rules and based on the results it didn't help them at all anyway.

He's an excellent manager which is why Southampton will turn a blind eye to what he did, but I feel for their fans. An FA Cup semi final and promotion (I think they'd have beaten Hull) would have been an exceptional season for them. Instead they've wasted a year. All that money travelling home and away to watch them, for nothing.

The crazy thing is that they probably didn't need to do it. That said, I'm surprised they've stood by the manager.

Listening to some of the evidence, he distanced himself from having ordered the spying or from actually using the data, pretty much throwing interns and his own staff in front of the bus. At the very least it's evidence of a dishonest workplace, I do wonder whether the intern pushes this for compo as he'll find it hard to work reputably in the football industry again. Hope he's taken legal advice at the least.
