Southampton Thread - 2022/23 | Nathan Jones sacked (Pg 6)

Along with Everton are about 30 years overdue a relegation. Actually been a decent side in recent years despite being the dippers feeder club, but they would've been a championship side in the 90's if it wasn't for Matt le tissier.

Not sure why they’re “overdue” Can’t remember too many times they’ve been right down there at the death, fighting to survive.

It’s actually a miracle that clubs like this can compete at all given the disparity in finances.

Whenever I hear Klopp whinging about a lack of money, I always think that I would have some sympathy if he was manager of a club like Southampton. Fighting for the scraps the top clubs discard and having to rely on getting a couple of good seasons out of good youth players before they inevitably move on to bigger things.

Yet strangely, clubs like this tend to accept their position in the hierarchy and just crack on doing the best they can.

Pochetitno is waiting for a bigger job. Southampton will probably opt for Jason Wilcox

Everton did reasonably well on fuck all money but it did take us a few years to get to that point.

Maybe Le Tissier should manage them. Guy seems to think he can do a decent coaching job, why not get him in?
