solid overcast, Piccadilly radio saying it was almost over the city centre, fleeting glimpse and that was it. Bit like Concorde overflying Woodford, total gridlock around Poynton bramhall cheadle, it dropped out of the clouds made a token flypast and that was it. You could hear it for much longer than we saw it. Noisy beast, to understate wildly. Was in Kennedy Airport(iirc) when one took off, shook all the windows facing the apron.

The last flight of the Space Shuttle Discovery. It is being piggybacked.

I saw it im under the flightpath about 3 miles out from Manny, so got a great view of it.

The An-225 was more impressive mind, that shit me up, it was fecking huge and had 6 engines and was noisy as fuck. They are at about 1000 ft over my house.

i was at mersey drive county primary school in whitefield in 83 and remember being in the playground and seeing it fly over....but nothing ever compares to two german starfighters that flew over my house the same year at about 500ft and left me with piss in my brown y-fronts...

I remember those starfighters too, I was near the Dock office on Salford docks when they flew over so it was just before I changed jobs (i.e. before the shuttle appearance). Apparently they were supposed to be on a training exercise over the Pennines and ferked up the navigation. Just thinking about it, that may well have been 1982 as I remember some wag on the docks saying 'it's the Argies'!
