Pep has said he told Palmer he would have a more prominent role in the team with Mahrez leaving and that he would get plenty of minutes but that was not enough for Palmer. And that’s fine, he gets to choose what is best for his career. Reports seem to indicate he wanted to be a regular starter and Pep couldn’t promise that. No, but the question has to be asked why wasn't he afforded some more game time and then have his nose put further out of joint by the arrival of Nunes.
He backed himself as ready to play more games in the PL and asked to leave, he scored over 20 for a poor CFC team and now he's scored in an International final.
He wasn't wrong, was he?
But it’s not like we didn’t try to keep him with us.
