My question was rhetorical/ironic - Spinal Tap parodied the death of rock band drummers.
 
Has there ever been a sequel this long after the last film that's been any good?

I saw the film only once - not a big fan. I thought it was OK but not great.

I thought that Reiner's, "The Princess Bride," and "When Sally Met Harry," were both far better.

You haven't lived fella. Utterly brilliant piss take of the rock scene in the 70s and 80s. The bit when they're lost backstage is hilarious. "Rock and Roll"!

By the way; my mate asked me to ask if anyone else thought that David St Hubbin's girlfriend, Jeanine, was aesthetically pleading? In or out of Dobly.
 
Once I'd seen this film, I could never take heavy rock bands seriously again. By the 80s, that kind of music had become so cliched...like it was a parody of itself. The film was needed.

The episode was filmed in autumn 1982 and was coincidentally in production at the same time as the similar mock-documentary This Is Spinal Tap, which was released in 1984 to a much wider audience.

Yup, ST was a much bigger budget and reach. But Bad News was seen here first.
A bit of a coincidence like Sweet's Blockbuster and Bowie's Jean Genie being not only released at the same time, but recorded in the same studios at the same time too!
I love both ST and BN equally by the way.
 
Such sad news about Rob Reiner, an absolute genius yet someone that most people may never heard of.

Regarding Tap, I think it's the second best comedy of all time, beaten only by The Life of Brian. So many brilliant moments, with "one louder" perhaps the peak. Going to watch it again today.
