Sky calling it an emphatic win. Pep please put these words up in the dressing room.
Hats to Amorim for being honest about the press knee jerking.
Yes first up on Sky Sports news ( it was on by default). City never get the headlines on there when we win, absolute cnuts. They are loving it. Fair play to Amorim, he was honest.

Seems to me we've missed a young, decent coach with good ideas.

Personally I think Pep is going, lads know and mojo gone. No excuse for that, but injuries and stupid high line not helping.

Agreed, even with Stones and Dias as our centre half pair last night I think the result would've been the same. I think this is Pep's last season, it's the performances that have been the biggest issue for me even if results until this last week prove otherwise, we just haven't looked convincing at all.
Viana replacing Txiki might be the biggest giveaway that Pep isn't renewing, Viana might want a fresh start
And this may be why there was no spending last summer. Leaving the money for a new manager.

Its looking like the Dips have played a blinder with Slot.

When we had a team of real elite, world-class players at the peak of their game and with a massive hunger, we could:
Retain the ball for most of the game,
Concede very few chances,
Create multiple chances,
Win games,
Win the treble.

With less elite players, we:
Give the ball away more,
Concede chances from repeatedly similar positions,
Create less,
Lose 3 in a week.

But what is frustrating, is that I’m sure, man for man, we had a better team than sporting last night. But they beat us 4-1. To me, that can only mean that the system we played wasn’t successful. And it almost proves it when Pep says that we were incredible in the first half. He’s said this a lot. Maybe it’s all psychology, but I refuse to believe we can have been incredible (it’s a strong word) when we’re are drawing 1-1.

The fact that he would rather bring Gundogan on, play Bernardo for 77 and Kovacic for 85 rather than bringing McAtee on is proof again to me that he is purely focussed on ball retention without seeing the reality of anything else. They younger, less experienced players definitely lose the ball more, and in our team, losing the ball means giving away golden chances. The safe, experienced players are not currently creating chances but he won’t adapt to use tactics where we are more defensively solid, more creative in attack but with higher risk of losing he ball. His system obviously works, but maybe it’s only with elite players on the top of their game.
Where do you get off? Coming on here with analytical reality?
Now is a time for Bingo - "spoiled" "Johnny come latelys", "entitled" etc.
We've been on a declining trajectory since Istanbul's peak. Lots of end of era's tend to take a cliff fall, but ours has been on slow deteriorating wane - almost deliberate in its nature - whether that's because of the uncertainty of the 115 or/and Pep and others possibly leaving?? Who knows? The threadbare nature of the squad exposed further by the appalling injury list. The injuries don't happen, and we keep scraping wins because we are far and away the best 15 man squad in the league - and the cracks are papered over and the can kicked down the road. At the moment the paper won't stretch enough.

Some fans just want to win every game and can not take losing
It's OK to lose and not win silverware if we come up short this season, Being a Manchester City fan is not about Glory.

Glory hunters moaning like fuck because we did not play well and lost can go to fuck, If you are a true City fan you understand why glory hunters should be over the road at the scum.

OK. Rant over

YES, City are struggling and you know what, They need you more than ever right now, GET behind the players, stick together, bring the noise, be the 12th man,
Good post. It’s took 38 pages for somebody to write that we should lift our game as fans too.

I agree with posters that the high line guarantees our opponents easy chances. Also, we some of the fight in our team, as well as goal scoring ability, when we didn’t replace Alvarez.

Most people complaining will certainly not be at the Etihad being the 12th man at the next home game, that's for sure.

It was my main concern about Gundo coming back.

Our midfield is aging at a time most of the Prem are building teams with high energy and a good press. I’m worried.
Maybe true but we weren’t going to recruit top players approaching their peak years with the 115/130 charges dominating media coverage of City. It helped us get Savinho that he was in the City group. The uncertainty over Pep’s future might not have helped either.

There were some own goals before then, for example, shipping out Lavia and bringing in Phillips but we have to start getting results again with the current crop of players.

Feels like 16/17 all over again, pep has not been backed at all in the transfer window and it’s causing devastating consequences. People thought my criticism of the squad was hyperbole after the Bournemouth game, well unfortunately I’ve been proven correct.

The simple fact is despite having arguably the greatest manager of all time, our squad is so poor I do not believe we will get Top 4 this season unless we sign at least 2 players in the Jan transfer window.

Are you fucking serious?
If so name the poor squad players you're relating to.

not nice to lose. Thankfully 2 of the recent losses have been quite meaningless competition-wise, i'd wager all 3 have actually, but obviously it builds a picture of bad form and tactical issues that are getting repetitive.

i thought the 1st half had a lot of decent stuff - Foden looked on it, Savinho's movement was good - but going in level was a bit silly but we've seen that before with City, dominance turning into a good win later in the game. This time is backfired in conjunction with a very shonky looking back line, the shape of it at times looked like a fucked accordion.

Haaland's penalty was a gift, that we spurned, but in truth we cannot continue to paper over cracks. The game was for winning in the first half, the second was a brain fart.

there we have it, we may even lose to Brighton as well, so i suggest people harden themselves a touch and get behind the team. I reckon we wont go into the break without a fight, but i dont think we'll see an instant fix to some on pitch issues. It might take a couple of months but we'll be with Liverpool at the top in a race, come March.

I think you are right.
Quite a few reasons, 12 months doesn't help much, new d of f , but mostly I don't think he will accept his system isn't really working how it used to and needs refreshing.

For me, we have to try and fix things bit by bit, starting with the most obvious immediate issue, which is our recent massive increase in susceptibility to counter attacks. I'm not sure if it's caused by Rodri being out, the lack of a consistent back line, the constant need to switch wingers over, or all of the above. We are playing very high, losing possession in midfield (usually on the wings) and are then disorganised in stopping the counter.

In any case, stopping that risk would certainly settle the ship and allow us to begin building confidence as a team again.

Is the injury situation not a bit weird?

Grealish - finished the game against Wolves but doesn’t play again cos he’s injured.
Stones - played 90mins v Spurs but doesn’t play again cos he’s suddenly injured.
Dias - wasn’t meant to play v Spurs, but played the first 45, came off at half time, I assume to let someone else take the other 45, but is then injured and doesn’t play again.
Foden - has only played 90mins in the league twice this season, apparently has been ill or injured but has just had a real stop start season with no rhythm at all.

It all just seems weird. I’m not sure I believe it.
Akanji, injured in a warm up.

Something seems off, the only 2 injuries resulting from match incidents are Rodri and KDB.

Having to rely on less effective inconsistent squad players is killing us.
