You can't any more without either paying or being invited to the free one.
 
happy i make my account before the invatation only... flip side is i let a mate choose the name, and since we were slighty drunk he picked the most bellended name in history
 
It's been invites only here for over a year though for the free version, maybe even since it started. Sadly it doesn't seem like you get invites unless you're a premium member either.

Not worth paying for IMO, for me half the point of it is lost then anyway. Maybe if I had more money but I don't. Would be cool to have on the iphone though.
 
They reverted to invite only from a paying (or very long standing free ) member when they launched the iphone app. Actually when you pay for it the sound quality is greatly improved. It goes from 160 to 320 kbits/s.
