I dont think Ekotto is Spurs best defender but it will certainly cost Spurs and they will definately miss him.
People have to take into account how the player plays, rather than just saying he's shite.
1st. His link up with Bale is one of the best in the Prem on the left hand side. They play together well and his pace allows him to overlap and create another danger to the opposition.
2nd. And i think which is most vital is the way he can change the direction of play. There isn't a LB in the premiership who can pass a ball 50 -60 yards diagonally across the pitch with the accuracy he does. This minimizes the use of Lennon on the right and will cost them in an attacking form.
3rd. Defensively this is probably the weaker part of his game, but the amount of times he has got himself out of trouble becuase of his pace is unreal. His pace is his real attribute when it comes to defending, and i'd much prefer to see AJ up against someone slower like Gallas rather than a speedy full back when i feel AJ is less effective.

I think he's underrated myself. He seems to shut us down. Had a blinder last game against rags, Nani couldn't get anything on him. Talking to some rags afterward and they rated him too.

It's a risk to put in someone who hasn't played in several months against Chelsea at stamford bridge. Woodgate is good but he is crocked and he wont last long without injuries. Same probly with Ledley King.
And dunno about Bale at Lb...BAE has been very good recently and it's a huge blow for Spurs because he will probly be out the rest of the season.
