Spurs’ new stadium

if this was manchester city the book would be throw at us and points and money would be taken off us even relegation could be a option mark my words IF IT WAS US, but its spurs and a good club in the eyes of the premier league and the media, and they like united can not be touch because they don't have a money bag's owners and seen to be not buying silverware ????

spurs have broken the rules and should be made to pay for it and punishment should be coming, spurs knew the rules and asked for a little bit of extra time but promised to be ready on time, spurs will be looking for compensation from the building company involved when missing the deadlines so its only right the premier league should punish spurs

Good point; would be interesting to find out if they do though as my guess is they aren't missing the real deadlines

If they hadn't had such a remarkable good weather window they would have been

significantly behind their tight schedule, they have been very lucky in that respect

The lack of transfer activity all makes sense now. At the end of last season there was talk of a budget for new players (limited funds but understandable with a new stadium) or Pochettino was off. Reckon they've put that money aside for other things.

With the ground needing Goal Line Technology installed, rules out Twickenham and Stadium MK (MK Dons) which two have been doing twitter rounds as alternative to Spurs own stadium. Wembley is out as they have an NFL game there ... so what's the realistic option left in London? Emirates, Stamford Bridge or West Ham's London Stadium?? But don't they have their own games that weekend ... and not sure if either of those clubs would entertain Spurs ...

Looks like it's going to be a swap of home with away fixture and this being played at Etihad ... clubs have done the home/away game swap before so there's precedence ... only issue is they won't announce it just yet, and would only come out with this a few weeks before the actual game so late Sept or even Oct ... but that's what will happen most likely!

Purely from a footballing season point of view, won't be such a bad thing to be playing a big game at home after the first CL game mid-week rather than being away for that ... but yes that does leave the away game just four games to the end at the end of the season and not many home games in April/May ...

A couple of things. I live in Richmond, the borough containing Twickenham. There is NO CHANCE they would allow the football. Chelsea floated the idea as a temporary venue for their (now cancelled) redvelopment and it got a lot of pushback.
Another thing is the timing of the match. It is half-term, so a lot of people may well have made plans for that weekend. If the game is switched back to the Etihad, it should be done ASAP.
I reckon that due to the cost, they will leave the decision as late as possible and, if necessary, postpone to a midweek. That would be the least disruption for City supporters.

This is certainly a valid point. Apparently they won't be allowed to use Twickenham so they're very limited in terms of options for this game.

I can genuinely see them forfeiting the game, we'll know it all by the 28th August anyways.

I'm sure there's a way to avoid a forfeit. Personally I wouldn't want that, it would cause a huge uproar among the other teams, and rightly so.

Maybe they can get a safety certificate to play matches with just some of the stands open (full away complement of course). I don't know what's failing at the moment so this might not even be possible.

Swings and roundabouts. It was a fairly tough winter - beast from the east and all.

Good summer weather has comparatively little impact on a construction schedule since the alternative would, at most, have been grey skies and a bit of rain - neither of which are material. In fact, reports from the site suggest that the good weather actually had a slight negative impact as the reflected light and heat on the roof was such that workers could only remain up there for an hour at a time.

The Spurs v City game was supposed to be on Sky and is still listed on the Premier League website - though Sky have taken it off their listing.
I can see a deal being done by the Premier League and the game moved to the London Stadium. West Ham are away that weekend, though they play Spurs there the weekend before. The London Stadium is effectively a neutral venue anyway and I'm sure Sky would be happy with that rather than a venue they haven't been to before for football.

It would be amusing watching WHU extort cash from Spurs, especially after the stadium bidding process, but I can't see it happening. I think it'll just get postponed.

If it were to happen (highly unlikely), it would be the owners of the stadium - E20 STADIUM LLP - who would be extorting cash from Spurs! West Ham are only tenants.

lets hope so but i will not hold my breath, rules are rules for a reason and any club breaking them should be punished know matter who or what ????

heard they have asked the premier league to swap the manchester city game from home to away and offer all the spurs fans going to the game free travel and match tickets ???? well what about the manchester city fans who have booked travel and tickets to the away game will you offer them a free special and match ticket when you play the game at your new ground ???

also heard that the ground could even be later in finishing and could be for months and months after christmas and even next season, and spurs have missed judged the time scales of the work when signing it off and put the plan in place for the new season to the premier league know this was never going to be reached, so questions must be asked did they lie to the premier league and cover there backs and blame the company building it, and like i said deadlines in construction have to be met both by spurs in finance and the time scale in the work being signed off and if one misses the deadline trouble starts

I think that we cannot play at ours as it mean having 4 away games in the run up to the end of the season and 3 away games on trot

Why do you believe that?

Sure, cosmetically, there is still quite a bit to do. But functionally, the stadium would have been usable by mid September but for the issue with critical safety systems identified by the first test event. The interior bowl is nigh on complete. Likewise the roof. I've seen comments to the effect that the seats aren't all in and the pitch hasn't even been laid yet. Well, both those jobs can be done in a matter of days. And there are still 4.5 weeks until the Liverpool game. If you've ever followed a construction project closely, you'll know that, more often than not, the building looks far from ready until the final few days. Check out pictures of Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano stadium at the same stage of construction last year. You'd have said exactly the same about that.....that there's no way it would be ready for a mid September opening. But it was. So would new WHL have been but for the aforementioned systems failure.

A huge, complex construction project on a tight schedule overrunning by a couple of months is most definitely not a fuck up of major proportions.
It looked alright from 36000 feet in June.
