Spurs’ new stadium

Still no completion date for the stadium then. Coming to the point where it is very unfair that some teams played at Wembley and some at a new Stadium.

I have a feeling, this game will get postponed yet again ... and will be put in somewhere in March or April when we are really in the middle of everything. So all the messing about with the rest of the games around it now would be for nothing and we'd suffer yet again later in the season!

The pitch will not be playable ... NFL games on 14, 21 and 28 October ... and we play on 29th?? Did you see the pitch when Barcelona played Spurs on Tuesday post the fight. ??

Yes I saw it, wasn't due to Yank Football was it?, was because is the noble art.
 
It won't get postponed. The nfl games being played are far less destructive on the pitch than staging a boxing match. Wembley hosts semi final games and play offs on consecutive days every year so whilst being far from ideal, it shouldn't be that big of an issue really.

You don't have 20 guys digging up turf for 3 and a half hours at semi finals, semi finals cause no where near the damage.

You are joking?!?

For the boxing the match surface is covered to place the ring and seats on top of it.

For the NFL, the pitch is run on by cleated men with an average weighted of over 220lbs.

They will have to relay the pitch, I reckon.

Notwithstanding, the match won't be cancelled. The league have gone past the case of caring for fan or player welfare.

Yes it's covered for the boxing but unless it's on some kind of raised surface it's still impacting the pitch far more than an nfl game does. You're essentially suffocating the grass whilst thousands of people and heavy equipment is placed on top of it, that's going to cause more damage than the nfl games do. Like I said, it won't be ideal, It might not even be acceptable for many but it won't get postponed

Didnt say it does, just pointing out the wembley ground staff have more experience than most of trying to get the pitch to an acceptable level on incredibly short notice.
 
From an article in the Daily Mail last year about the turnaround from NFL to football pitch at Wembley.
They claimed that a 4-day turnaround is a bit tight!!!!!!! - so they will be up against it, though they also claim any adverse effects are of a 'cosmetic nature' and not on the quality of the pitch.

Expect some shadow pitch marks and probably a bit more wear and wear as the weather takes a turn.
Tomorrow it is expected to be pissing down for Tottenham v Cardiff City at Wembley.

American football markings will still be visible on the Wembley pitch for England's final home World Cup qualifier on Thursday night, with groundstaff struggling to remove all evidence of the NFL game hosted last Sunday.

Gareth Southgate's men can seal their place at Russia 2018 with a victory against Slovenia, but the visit of the Miami Dolphins and New Orleans Saints on Sunday has allowed just a four-day turnaround for staff to prepare the pitch for this important fixture.

Sportsmail understands that more time would usually be allotted to complete such a transformation — in this case, removing the NFL's gridiron markings, team logos and branding from the playing surface and ensuring its playability meets the usual high standards set by Wembley.

And despite working solidly to restore the pitch this week, the groundstaff will be unable to erase all markings by this evening.

The extremely physical nature of American football means its fields are subject to high levels of wear and tear, and previous NFL games hosted in London have resulted in the Wembley pitch cutting up badly during subsequent England matches.

But a pitch playability test was carried out on the surface on Wednesday and it is understood that the only adverse effects of Sunday's game are of a cosmetic nature.

Remnants of American football games were often visible during England matches in the earlier years of the NFL's regular Wembley visits — each of which is believed to earn the FA in excess of £3million.

Slovenia were also the visitors for a European Championship qualifier in November 2014, six days after Wembley had hosted the Jacksonville Jaguars and Dallas Cowboys, and complained that the pitch had been 'completely ruined'.

The FA will also be keen to avoid a repeat of the build-up to last year's home qualifier against Malta, which saw groundstaff still trying to paint over a giant Jacksonville Jaguars logo in the middle of the centre circle just hours before kick-off.
