Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

We’re getting there slowly.
The new signings have made the difference, Khusanov being the standout so far.
We put some of them chances away first half and we have a much more comfortable night.
We tired massively in the second half and rode our luck, just like spurs did first half but we kept going and kept fighting and should’ve had a second.
Hopefully as the up and coming fixtures ease we’ll see us grow.
We’re still nowhere near our best but we’re getting there slowly but surely.
I’m still fucking fuming that goal has been ruled out!!

It’s good that we’ve managed to blank out the Carabao Cup defeat last zoctober!
Mickey Mouse trophy, innit? Doesn't count. Except when we won it in four successive seasons, of course.

I have sacked my secretary for that oversight. You just can't get decent staff these days. Cheeky sods all demanding the minimum wage.

Unless Haaland handled it first. Don't think he did though.
Do we still have the ridiculous idea that any handball by an attacker is penalised, but handball by a defender isn't always penalised?
It looked like Haaland and the Spurs player handled it simultaneously. But that's inconclusive . If so , the goal should stand.

I know we got the 3 points and thats all that matters but the truth is we were shocking against the worst Spurs side Ive seen in years. Match should have been over at half time. The half hearted efforts to win the loose balls, the loose passes, the wrong decision making. Absolutely suicidal at times. We only won that because Spurs were more shit than us. Our levels have dropped so much. Just hope Pep can work his magic again.
Got to remember that this is our level now. We are not the team from 1/2 seasons ago. Plus a very young first 11 with not much experience playing together so I think expectations may need to be adjusted a little with a sprinkling of patience. 2nd youngest team ever in Pl apparently.

Make your mind up,

were we shocking or should we have been out of site at half time, away at Spurs?

Should have been 3 or 4 up by half time, and end up scraping a 1-0 win (thanks to a shit referee decision).

We're our own worst enemy this season. We don't put teams away.

Oh well... 3 points in the bag. On to the next one.
I sound like a broken record, but why is our back line pushing way into the opposition half again when we are in a winning position and in control. I mean what could possibly go wrong?

Club should be making a fuss over this and watch all the footage for the refs actions, then ask for var audio. I believe the ref allowed the goal initially. If another ref/var fuck up, then they should be asking for an explanation.
Be in the news for 1 month if that happened to the Dippers.
We always seem to get some very dubious decisions v Spurs, remember Hoopers play on, Jack through on goal, then blows up

They probably should have scored 1, but arguably we should have 2 more, so the win is more than fair.

One common concerning thing this season is that we just cant play the full 90.

Spurs basically dominated control from the 60th minute after we dominated the 1st half.

Huge +3 that, and a clean sheet. Thought Khusanov, Dias and Ederson superb tbh. Khusanov has pace to burn and though it's early days, his raw skills and athleticism is off the charts. Also like the 4-2-3-1 formation with the 2 holds which worked well.

The joke VAR decision was bad enough, but if Sarr's header had gone in I'd have launched my foot through the screen, and our cat over the Tandle Hill monument.

With Erling up top we obviously have far more cutting edge; Doku, Marmoush and Savinho behind provided real pace and menace, and if we'd took our chances the game would've been over at half-time.

Other thoughts - I'd play Khusanov and Dias as the centre half pairing in every single league game and FA Cup ones if we reach the business end of that comp. Let them build a partnership. We can rotate on Saturday and still field a strong team - Grealish, Foden, McAtee, Gundogan, Rico, Ake for example can all come in if Pep feels it's needed, with the others on the bench. I'm also be resting Gvardiol on Saturday and playing O'Reilly at left back - we then have a full week off to both the Forest and Brighton games which will really help us.

Big result that. Well in Blues.
