We know with absolute certainty that the referee did not see a handball because there wasn't one.

So either he made it up or imagined it. My point is, this wasn't an in-play decision, the goal had been scored and the ball was out of play when he made his "on-field" decision.

The correct approach even if he thought he saw a handball, was to give the goal and then review it as they do in virtually every game. It can then be overturned if there is a clear handball. By doing what he did, when there was absolutely no need to, tells me that he wanted it disallowed.
Bang on,like the linesman in a game keeping his flag down team score then it’s looked at for possible offside, stinks of what you mention only interested in disallowing it ..

Great result, we should have been out of sight at half time, but that 1st half was very pleasing on the eye. Shame Savinho did n't take that chance as a second goal was the least we deserved after that 1st 45 mins. Second half was a different story where we had to show a bit of grit and defend stubbornly.
In the build up to that savinho chance I’m sure Nunes did a blatant shirt pull, so if we’d scored it would have been ruled out by VAR

We were excellent 1st half..we dominated them and could easily have scored 4..
Yet you choose only to mention the 2nd half where spuds improved..
End of the day ..we won against a team we often struggle against..
Enjoy the result
But that's the whole point!! What is excellent about could have scored four. We didn't score them due to poor decision making, poor through balls and poor finishing. You could make a case for us being excellent if their keeper had a worldy, but he didn't. We made the mistakes thus cannot be described as excellent.
Spuds have had some shite results this season and had we gone in three up at the break the crowd would have turned on them. The reason we had to pull our collective tripe out for 90 minutes was due our failure to make the early dominance count. I know we chucked away a three goal lead v Feyenoord, but we are better than we were then and Spurs are fragile mentally.
Had we actually been excellent we could have cruised through that second half and saved some energy.

Has anyone mentioned the disallowed goal at the end yet?

Ha ha, only joking, but I did just get a chance to watch it after reading the many comments and it's pretty clear that the ref didn't blow until quite a while after the incident, so he obviously didn't see a handball at the time. I can only assume he was told about it by an assistant of by the VAR ref. If it's the latter, VAR isn't supposed to overrule an on-field decision without clear evidence that there was an error, so the goal should have stood.

If it's the former, they could argue that the on-filed ref(s) gave a handball and since they considered the evidence inconclusive, they stick with that decision. This is, of course the absolutely most generous assessment of the process. Personally, I couldn't see any conclusive evidence that it did hit his arm as opposed to "not really sure either way".

The really galling thing with the way the rules are applied these days is that this sort of thing is forensically analyzed, whereas defenders are free to just bear-hug players to the ground on most corner kicks and nothing is given at all.

Cunts never raise their flags when teams are attacking us yet they stop us like that. As I said, cunts
Dodgy as fuck,Doku through flag up ref blows what happened to keeping it down then if we score it’s checked no replay either, says to me they were worried we would score with the breakaway so flag up ref blows no chance of a possible goal, stitched up ..

Football is about opinions. Some have agreed with my views tonight some have not. What's your problem. Do you have to be right??
I gave you an opportunity to explain your crass comment.
You haven’t opined why you think we were rubbish. Of course we weren’t. We were excellent in the first half, scoring one and creating numerous opportunities against a notoriously tough team to beat on their own turf. We defended well in the second half. They were also in good form in the run up to our match.
As alluded to by the previous poster, you are clearly an attention seeker.
I have explained my position, unfortunately I don’t care about yours now.
Weirdo..

Great first half with poor finishing. Should have been out of sight.

Dodgy second half without ever really being troubled or under the cosh.

Ederson, Khusanov, Gvardiol, Dias, and Doku all great. Haaland got the important goal.

Nine points from Chelsea, Arsenal, Newcastle, Liverpool, and Spurs is better than expected.

Just got to keep going now.

Great first half with our usual problem of missing too many chances.
Total collapse as usual 2nd half and very lucky to hang on.
Ref and Var a disgrace.

But what the fuck does Pep say at half time as this happens so often in 2nd half’s.
Oh, for the millionth time, get a fucking competent set piece coach in, we are as bad defending them, giving up free headers, as we are taking them
The set piece coach needs sacking.

Without being threatened? I thought Spurs had a 20 minute spell where they did have us on the ropes and only poor finishing and good keeping kept us in it.

We were terrible tonight if we are all honest with ourselves.

referee shouldn’t of disallowed the goal and waited for VAR to check if it was handball, happens all the time for offsides, thought the ref was shit for both sides to be fair

So did the ref originally give handball for the goal? If so, I can see why VAR didn't overturn it. There was no conclusive evidence to confirm the opposite.
Yes the ref gave handball. However he could have still been sent to the screen to look at it again.

Ederson only really had to make that one save, though. You expect your keeper to make a save like that in every away game. They had a decent 10 mins spell where they kept us in a bit, and Spence gave Nunes a bit of trouble, but they were never relentlessly coming at us and that outball to Doku was always on. Thought Spurs' subs actually made them weaker and once Foden and Bernardo came on they didn't really have much of a sniff until that weird VAR nonsense at the end.
