Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

It’s literally been in the rules forever, I’m not sure how people don’t know that.

It should have been a retaken corner.
No it shouldn't be retaken.

The foul by two defenders holding him obviously begins before the ball is in play. That's obvious.
If the ref whistles at that moment (no necessarily before the kick point but effectively "cancelling" the corner "before" it is taken) and the ball is still crossed, then yes, retake it.
But he didn't blow, he allowed the foul to continue and he allowed the corner to be taken.
As the corner is taken the foul is still occurring, and after the ball is kicked the foul is still occurring. The ball is in play and the foul is still going on. Yes it started prior to the ball being in play but it continued whilst the ball was in play. It's a foul and it's a penalty.

We're not talking about an instantaneous foul, like a kick, prior to the ball being in play. It's continuous holding which started before the ball was in play and continued as, AND after, the ball was in play and he was in a position where the ball was heading (this is the new bit of the law). The laws couldn't be clearer.

And for once, the TV cameras couldn't have shown clearer pictures of the incident.

Foul and penalty, 100%.

Boot someone from behind??
no City player said a peep.
Maybe they didn't see it.

Know what you mean, but the ref has to see fouls, every foul,
and no matter if the player goes down or not. A foul is a foul.

This one goes 1000% to Gillet on VAR.

We have been shafted in clear daylight once again.

I personally want a video explanation of the VAR team, especially Gillet, why their 1st goal stood and which rule allows wrestling Haaland down to the ground in the box ("before ball was in play, my arse").

City's fanbase is now really soft and entitled. That's what bothers me more than anything else.

It was very disappointing not to win but 2-2 at Spurs is not a disaster. The game went against us and yes we should have done better but the Football Gods were also loaded against us.
soft and entitled ? really
against a spurs side missing 12 yes fucking 12 players that cant buy a win
yes i expect us to thrash the fuckers, they are absolutely crap but somehow this myth of them being a bogey team
has somehow entered the minds of the squad.
its not that we feel entitled to win every game but watching professional footballers making schoolboy mistakes
in dangerous areas and one or two players going through the motions makes a lot of fans angry.
are you not more worried about the performance more than what other fans think ?

Sky banging on about Spurs damaging our title hopes. In my mind, we have no hope whatsoever. We need to start thinking about making top 4.

Beginning to wonder if some of the players think chasing victories and trophies is just too much bother.
It’s to many players who are just not trophy chasing players. Bang average signings Reijnders, Shite-Noure, Marmoush and players who probably reach their levels of the past again

In view of our complete inability to hold a lead, I am very worried about the Newcastle 2nd leg.

Right - whats going on. Sky finished its super Sunday show and NO var check for the first goal shown.

wtf ??

We got 2-0 up in the 1st half. Spurs were massed in defence.

The problem was that we lost control when Spurs got the 1st goal which should not have stood

Yeah 2-0 but we was walking round the pitch with tippy tippy even at 0-0… Spursy knew they were there for the taking so sat back but we walked our way into a lead through them being shite and gifting us atleast one of the goals…….
