Spurs (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

just a reminder that forest fulham bournmouth and even west ham beat these recently and spurs had better sides out than today, even burnley drew with them.

They can rotate and win the league at a canter. No one else is getting anywhere near them.

We are 6pts behind them. We are also only 6pts ahead of the rags who sacked their manager a couple of weeks ago because they were so shit. Let that sink in if you think we can challenge anyone in our current state.
Still only 6 points in it and they are supposedly to be better than us. Not convinced they are good enough on all fronts. The league isn't that strong to be honest and everyone is capable of beating each other on any occasion. They will still have to priortise.

We always start the second half terribly, wtf goes on at HT??? We know we're in transition but can't explain why this is and its been months now

We have only beaten Wolves at home in the last 6 games. Would you prefer him to wait til next week after we get beat instead?
He's been at it since the day he joined the forum. It's quite noticeable you know. Constant drip drip of fucking negativity, just so happens after today it's warranted.

Neville banging on about how bad the defence is - I don’t have a problem with the defence as individuals, it’s those up front that are doing fuck all.

Haaland was rubbish

Ait-Nouri is shite, we always get worse when Rijnders comes on and we didn’t have a shot in the second half.

Just so slow and weak

We probably will see him go . Hopefully if he's up to it he will stay untll the end of the season. But if he's not he may well decide to go early which might cause some chaos. We would have to have someone ready surely.
Lijnders can only be a temporary coach. He will not be able for full time management of this club. Managing a club was difficult for him back in 2018 at Nijmegen in the Dutch league . He found that being the head coach is not just about tactics, training, but also about handling pressure, communicating with everyone around the club, handling the micro aspects of management ,keeping unity etc when results go awry . He has said openly that it was a big learning curve even though it was something he always wanted to try.
I wouldn’t advocate for any changes until the season has ended mate.

Once we went 0-2 up on them, I thought we'd go on and get another 3 to be honest. They were absolutely dreadful and we were in complete control. They couldn't get the ball, didn't try much and were already beaten.

I cannot understand what Pep says at HT sometimes - Spurs couldn't have come out and played worse and they had nothing to lose. We went out thinking we'd won that game and put as little effort in as we could. In the end, Spurs could've had 4 goals and it took something special from Donnarumma. If we'd had Ederson in net today, we'd have been slapped.

In past seasons, I could understand why we were sometimes trying to save energy - we had a decent crack at winning the lot. This team will be very lucky to win any trophies this season. We cannot win the PL, FA, CC and CL this season. We have to pick and choose because the squad is not good enough, we have too many old players and players who cannot play the system he wants to play.

Quite simply, playing the high line and having a midfield which doesn't attack or defend well kills this team. If Dias, Gvardiol, Stones, Ake etc struggle with it then so will any other defender let alone Khusanov, Alleyne etc. It's complete suicide.

We also are playing a system which makes one of the greatest strikers who's ever lived into a bit part. Either he scores 2 goals in a game or he does fuck all and we might as well not play him. Pep HAS to figure this out. He might complain about recruitment but Guehi, Cherki and Semenyo are plenty good enough in this league.

I'm getting a bit fed up with Pep now. This has been going on for 18 months and we're no closer really to figuring out out best XI or the system to play which works with our players. If he can't do that, the board have to ask him some heavy questions. I don't think his heart is in it anymore to be honest. He has been one of the most incredible, revolutionary managers English football has seen but his recent teams are boring to watch and easily beaten.

I don't really know what we do next, I suspect we will win some and lose some and finish top 4. It's just really frustrating to watch football like today - we purposely played in a way that made us far worse and that's on Pep.

How can we arrive at a situation where us armchair coaching experts have warned since the WCC that Aint is very poor defensively and is not an answer to our problem area. How can our supposed Scouts/ Data Analysts not see what we can all see

next weekend the dippers will come out at 100mph.. their fans will be rabid (cos they despise us) and will be screaming for every decision… we’ll get weak coward officials who will fully oblige

They’ll smash us
I don't know . We are due a win there at some stage. Let's hope it is next week.

How many times did RAN, Nico O’Reilly, Bernardo and Cherki move forward with the ball from the midfield straight into traffic and lose possession

I think that is partly down to a lack of movement ahead of them.

Excellent post mate, the kind of thing I’d write if I could be arsed. Agree with pretty much all of it.

It's absolutely mad to think that players like Connor Gallagher, Onana at Villa etc would walk into our midfield and be better than what we have. That's how far we've fallen!
