Spurs (a) - Post Match Thread

Says all you need to know about Tyler when Jesus got through on goal and shot it was Oh dear now just think how he would respond to Kane going through on goal it wouldn’t be oh dear would it be KANNNNNEEE

Exactly the same with Sterling's goal aswell! It's ridiculous how many commentators are just willing us to lose

I do hope sterling continues to work on his finishing. Yes 22 goals now, but how many tap ins, how many scuff shots. He is just not a natural finisher and in the decisive moments, we’ll need one.

Anyone else concerned that he’s heading into his final two years, given how young he is?
tap ins are results of great play, some of the best strikers lived on tap ins, dont understand its only a tap in

Great performance nearly there now. It would be nice to win it at home on Sunday. I think Laporte is going to be class next season. Probably alongside Stones. Let’s get the party going next weekend...

This !

I watched again later(call me sad) and its like we had nothing riding on this game, even the 3rd he could barely raise any enthusiasm to proclaim such a massively important goal.

No doubt he will be commentating Sunday too..... Thank goodness i will be at the game

Actually, there are many of us 'of a certain age'...and in those dark days we might have only dreamt of this...tbf...i think that Tyler is acknowledging the proper City fans here

I think you’re correct. As much as I hate raggy lover Tyler, I thought that too.
He’s a disgrace to commentators, undeniably biased. The disappointment in his voice when we score is pure gold.

You must have watched a different Vincent Kompany to me last night

He was excellent tonight as he’s been since he came back, but I think longer term it will be Laporte and Stones.

It can't be Kompany, as he will not be able to play. But if he was young enough & fit enough, he would still be the first defender name on the sheet ahead of any of the others.

It's early days & there are flaws (such as being so dumb as to let Salah repeatedly move in on his left foot) but if we compare Laporte's performances in his short time at the club, to those of Otamendi & Stones in their first season(s), he is currently miles ahead & looks much closer to Kompany's level.

The question imo would be; how long do we give Stones, to consistently reach that level, without doing something fucking stupid, every game ?

There were times v Spurs, when the whole centre midfield had gone to jelly, KDB & Silva jogging, shagged out, Gundogan totally invisible & it was Vinny & Laporte vs Tottenham, yet they couldn't even barely get a shot on target.

That's pretty impressive & very difficult & also different from recent City centre back pairings, who have actually helped the oppo score.
