Seems very attacking, could Alvarez play deeper? He works hard and you could see it working as a counter attacking sort of line up. Has Lewis ever played left back? Can’t remember, it seems a lot to ask of young players, but they are very good young players. The good thing is he’s picked the in form players.

Eddy

Walker Akanji Ake Lewis

Rodri

Mahrez Alvarez Silva Grealish

Haaland

Pep is playing a different way since the arrival of Harland. The players are still getting use to it. Foden not fit to play due to illness. We will play a back three for most of the game with Lewis tucking in.

I reckon Walker will play as a CB and Ake as LB.

From the warm up, it's looking like Lewis LB and Walker RB. Though Lewis will most likely spend more time in midfield.

If Lewis is LB we get to find out if he is ready to cover that postition. I am not sure (yet) he is.

On paper I don't mind that starting 11. It's either going to be brilliant or dogshit though. We will know within about the first 10 mins which way it will go. Hopefully we will blow these away. Come on boys!

Have to say that this is generally the one consistent with a Pep team, the first 10 minutes generally sets the tone for the whole game.

Again Pep's changing the defence, is he trying to break some kind of record ? well we should be beating Spurs anyway.

I really liked what I saw of Alvarez and Haaland playing at the same time. I think he bridges the gap well between the midfield and Haaland.

even in the game against Spurs game other week, you could see things starting to click a bit later in the first half until we let to daft goals in at the end of the half. Obviously we were much better second half.

But I definitely think there’s something there with both of them playing.
