Spurs (a), Bournemouth (a), Sporting (a), Brighton (h) then another International break. De Bruyne, Walker, Grealish, Doku missing. Vital we prioritise now. The league cup is lowest priority. CL isn't a must win either. League games are the priority.

I don't mind Foden and Nunes playing some part tonight, to keep their rhythm going.

Otherwise, it's about using it for fitness in fringe players and experience for the academy.

Ortega, Rico, Stones, Simpson-Pusey, Ake, Gundo, O'Reilly, McAtee, Foden, Nunes, Alfa-Ruprecht

An hour with the above, then bring in the likes of Wilson-Esbrand and Wright and whatever other academy players we have who didn't feature last night.

I personally really rate Wright and wouldn't mind him starting over O'Reilly who I think has been pretty sloppy for us the last couple of appearances. Allow Gundo to push up more and show us his ability to play that holding role.
Agree with that line up and points, Brighton is away mate.

Edited now, thought it was at home - one heck of an away run.

Tough run in general post-International break as well, so need to make sure we don't get any unnecessary injuries and to be honest if the kids can't help us progress we're better out of it to be honest. Enough games to concern ourselves with.

After hearing his press conference I'm worried now that pep's going to play a lot stronger team than he first suggested he would and stronger than the teams were all putting down. Difficult to say this but the reality is we really need to lose this game and under no circumstances get anymore injuries.

The only time we don't have a midweek game for the rest of the year is 17/18 December which will be the next round of fixtures. should we progress tonight, that will be sandwiched inbetween a home derby and an away game at Villa.

Should we get through that, the semi final first leg will be played in January which will effectively completely cancel the winter "break" of 10 days we get as its played directly in the middle of that and the second leg is played immediately after arsenal away in feb.

It gets worse and worse the longer you stay in it and that's before we factor in still having champions league games in the new year under the new format.

not only do we not need the extra games, we need the rest when the next fixtures are played. It's too much of a sacrifice to be worth winning and so you may aswell go out early and benefit from the rest.

Just throw it pep.

It's not in his nature though is it?

agree with wright, could be the next graduate. pep really rates him too, he had loan offers in the summer but pep asked to him stay around, i think we will see him regularly in the cups

We are obviously not going to see a normal first team line-up. Neither will be see an EDS team.

For me the ‘nailed-on’ starters from the first team squad will include those short of game time: Ortega, Stones, Aké, Nunes, and McAttee.

Then start some development players including the likes of Simpson-Pusey, Wilson-Esbrand, Wright, and O’Reilly.

The remainder of the team will be first team regulars playing part of the match including Gündogan, Foden, Lewis, and Savinho.

I would give the likes of Akanji, Bernardo, Dias, a rest or at least restrict them to a short sub appearance.
