Anyone got those transfer figures to hand that show how much we've spent compared to Spurs? Having a discussion with a Spurs fan on Twitter,and he's coming out with the usual guff; we've ruined football, not a fair playing field, we were so boring, bench worth something silly and he gives us no prop's (?) for third place.

Over the last 5 years, Spurs net spend is just over £92m, exactly the same as Chelsea. Only we've spent more than that (and a lot more).

Over the life of the Premiership, Spurs have been the fourth highest net spenders (£194m) behind Chelsea, us and Liverpool (and ahead of the rags).

Spurs have spent very similar amounts but have sold more. We haven't needed to yet but will sell some this summer I'll bet. The thing is simple transfer in and transfer out figures don't tell the full story of finances for a club, the payment and wage structure is much more complex than that.

At the end of the day it's all irrelevant. So long as we're solvent in the next few years all is well. I'm fairly sure we will start to earn what we spend (in fact we have to, to comply with FFP) in the coming years. Any arguements against our spending are starting to look very futile and petty. Speculate to accumulate, we've done the speculating, now we start to accumulate. ;)
