Spurs (H) 2nd Leg - Post Match Thread

Their opening goal and to a lesser extent their second goal were gifts from mistakes that were nothing to do with Pep. They were sloppy on Bernardos goals... why do we attack the team and the manager when things don't go perfectly? We still deserved to go through on the night if not for the ref but yeah lets bash Pep and Laporte... haha.

Personally I wasn't expecting a perfect performance, as long as we did enough to ensure we go through and if VAR had got it right it would have been is the sickener. So can we stop trying to say ah it was nothing to do with the ref or VAR when it was EVERYTHING to do with the ref and VAR. We're not good enough to overcome goals being given that shouldn't have stood yet but that doesn't mean we should just act like it didn't happen and blame the players and Pep.

We will get over it, revenge on Saturday will do nicely.

I can't believe people think any of the VAR decisions were wrong.... the only problem with today was the fact that our defence was yet again found wanting in Europe.... we need to invest in some full backs in the summer

You can get fucked. It clearly hit his elbow. VAR didn’t show the ref the clearest view of the goal, yet before the goal was checked the replays showed clearly it hit his elbow. We got robbed tonight, bad defending or not.

Bitterly disappointed. On balance, we deserved to go through. We were simply the better team today and last week. Our players gave everything. Even when it appeared the tie was over within the first ten minutes we battled on. Once again we found luck not to be on our side.

I have to say though that we are not solid enough to win the Champions League. Even if we had gone through, we’d see the same defensive flaws brutality exploited by the opposition in the later stages. You simply cannot gift the opposition two goals in the first ten minutes at this level.

Always thought that the Champions League was going to be step too far this season. We can still go on to have a phenomenal year by picking up the domestic treble. We need to put this behind us and make sure we punish them on Saturday.

Great performance. Immense. Laporte has been a rock so his two mistakes tonight can be forgiven...because fuck UEFA and fuck UEFA!

How ??
Well - I thought it was handball.
The contact if any was a slight brush that didn't effect the flight of the ball one bit...I appreciate we are all hurting but let's not be so biased and look at it objectively

Cruel is exactly right. Celebrating that winner for a full minute before seeing chalked off is possibly the cruelest thing I’ve gone through as a City fan. Relegations one can see coming for weeks off. That immediate joy to despair is pretty hard to take.

Totally mate. But we’ve had our fair share of last minute joy. We live for moments like this, good or bad. I’d never swap it for the past so let’s take the good with the bad.

Well, fingers crossed Barcelona pump Liverpool and spurs do they’re annual bottle job and it will have been an ok year in Europe.

And if Sergio scores the pen it was brilliant tactics.

No, because after he didn't we went 1-0 down and basically chose to do fuck all about it, planning to win it at our place.

That was a bad plan. I'm not saying it couldn't have worked. But the fact is, it didn't work. Again.

I've said earlier, Pep us the most amazing coach who has his team's playing the most amazing football but his tactics in the huge games is definitely questionable, at best. Going out to Monaco having scored 6 is just bloody ridiculous. The away game at Liverpool last season was a joke, and now this. There's no way we should have gone out to any of these sides.

Appreciate the 'likes' my fellow Blues but Im still no closer to knowing what the fuck happened and why that goal was disallowed. No fucking way Im clicking on the BBC to find out. So I'll hang around until a fan explains what i missed or posts a video. My lad is askin also. So when someone gets a moment can they let a fellow Blue who is still confused as to what happened. Stream cut out as we was celebrating. Thanks in advance.

Sergio was slightly offside.

Someone on here has said it. Forget about Pep’s decisions, UEFA, VAR, etc. This team serves up some of the best football that some of us have ever seen. The outcome tonight would be one of the biggest blows they’ve had in the last 20 months. I can only thanks the lads for being able to watch wonderful football. City have always done things the hard way.

Can’t fault the lads for their effort. They believed right until the end. So did the fans at the ground. Only thing we can do is support them till they get over the line for the league and FA Cup.

City till death!

Never forget that Aymeric Laporte single handedly costed you this entire thing by being at fault in not one, not two, but all three Tottenham goals.

Goodnight.
I missed the part where he shaved his head, got a fake tan and swapped shirts with Kompany right before the 3rd.

Interestingly it was Pep's conservative approach last week that cost us. Where every other year Pep had trouble in the CL he got tripped up by playing it aggressively.

So I put this year down to "weird shit happens sometimes."

Look at it this way - when we win the League and deny the cult of Miseryside they can whine even more about the two extra fixtures they had getting boned by Barcelona. I like hearing them whine. Makes it all the more cruel for them I think.

If it hadn’t hit his hand it would not have hit his hip where it did and would not have gone in.
Absurd to let that stand.

Fair play to Tottenham I didn’t think they played well and think Ajax best them comfortably but they hung in there and got the goals. Thought city played well bar stupid errors but guess what if you make errors you take things out of your control to some extent. I am wondering though who that takes more out of ahead of the weekend?!
