Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Bit worrying if we're hanging all our hopes on a kid who's not even played 15 premier league games in his career
...one who got subbed off after 60 minutes in two of his 4 starts post January last season (Spurs away in the cup & Brentford home league). Nonetheless, since his injury he has been transformed into prime time Zidane levels of importance. Far too much pressure building on him...

We are all delusional. Pep won’t be changing anything but asking the players to go back to the basic principles and follow his methods.

We would all love to see changes but it won’t happen. This is now play thorough the pain barrier approach until we start winning again or buy some players.

Nothing and I mean nothing will change. It’s up to the players now to step up. We have all highlighted the issues with kdb,Walker, Rodri, Gundo but we do have a lot of other players who should be able to steady the ship.

Foden
Gvardiol
Haaland
Savio
Grealish
Dias
Ederson
Doku
Akanji
Bobb

The problems - kdb, Walker, Bernie, Gundo, Stones age and injuries is nothing we can change.

Look at that list for a second, the bedrock of our recent success. It’s not rocket science to see why we are struggling.

Rodri- unavailable

Hold steady, spend and go again. Not an easy situation but one we all need to get ready for and stand tall.

The perfect storm has hit. Stick behind the club and pep to see us through.

I never cease to be amazed how much a players stock rises unrealistically whenever they are out of action for a long time.
To be fair he had a superb pre-season and looked like he was ready to step up to the mark. In the current circumstances I think it's a big loss. We'll never know for sure of course but I really feel for him.

The highlight for me yesterday was Walkers cross aiming for an astronaut on the space station and over shooting it .
Quite how a professional footballer could produce that is astonishing.
The fact Walker still plays regularly for City and England is why I will never discount the next ring on my doorbell will be from a semi naked miss world

5 straight losses, including 2 absolutely embarrassing beatings we have been laughing at the rags deliver on a monthly basis for years now. I expect to see some consequences from that in both tactics and player selections going forward.
Ederson/Gvardiol/Akanji/Lewis/Bernardo/Savinho/Foden/Haaland have all started in 2 humiliating results in just 3 games. Some other names could/should be mentioned as well, but I expect at least a few of these names to be benched a while going forward, otherwise we are basically just telling the players they can perform at an unacceptable level repeatedly and still getting rewarded with starts as if nothing out of the ordinary has happened. This season is unfortunately most likely gone anyway so now it's time to make some statements and even play youth players ahead of them if thats whats needed to get the message through.

Results like these must have consequences or sooner or later results like these become acceptable within the group of players.
The next five don’t look promising either, does el stubborno have enough credit in the bank to ride out 10 in a row?

Absolutely perfect description and pretty much what I was going to post, so much so that I scrapped my original notes. I even used the "perfect storm" analogy, it's spot on.

Nobody should be surprised by this, let alone shocked. I said before the international break that I wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get anything from the Spurs and Liverpool matches too, and at the end of last season I said I expected this one to be a struggle because players are getting zero rest with virtually the entire squad on international duty. That's WITHOUT all the injuries.

If you rip the core out of a team this will always be the result. You're left with players who will get you through some games and come out on top, but not all of them. Plyers who need a break are not getting one, players are coming back who are clearly not fully fit, and opponents are wise to it and likely to step up their game so the problems compound. Perfect storm.

It's tough to buy players, they all have to be paid for, will be on top wages and we're limited by spending rules, bearing in mind we still need to pay all the players who are not playing. There's no easy fix, we just ride the storm then go again but some of you need to understand this is the reality, you cannot be 100% on it all of the time and when you get injuries and an absurd fixture schedule this is the result.
