Sterling at city. He missed chances yes but his numbers speak for themselves.

Sterling hit double figures in every campaign at the Etihad, exceeding 20 goals in three consecutive seasons between 2017 and 2020.

His total tally of 131 leaves him 10th on City’s all-time top scorer’s list, just one behind Billy Gillespie and Fred Tilson.

The forward entered the top 10 with his 127th strike in February 2022 when he netted a superb curling effort against Sporting.

His best goalscoring season came in 2019/20 when he was on target 31 times in all competitions and his overall tally of 131 is second only to record goalscorer Sergio Aguero (153) in the same period
scored yesterday too

We are all delusional. Pep won’t be changing anything but asking the players to go back to the basic principles and follow his methods.

We would all love to see changes but it won’t happen. This is now play thorough the pain barrier approach until we start winning again or buy some players.

Nothing and I mean nothing will change. It’s up to the players now to step up. We have all highlighted the issues with kdb,Walker, Rodri, Gundo but we do have a lot of other players who should be able to steady the ship.

Foden
Gvardiol
Haaland
Savio
Grealish
Dias
Ederson
Doku
Akanji
Bobb

The problems - kdb, Walker, Bernie, Gundo, Stones age and injuries is nothing we can change.

Look at that list for a second, the bedrock of our recent success. It’s not rocket science to see why we are struggling.

Rodri- unavailable

Hold steady, spend and go again. Not an easy situation but one we all need to get ready for and stand tall.

The perfect storm has hit. Stick behind the club and pep to see us through.
Pep said he ain't changing the system as he believes in it so it's gonna get messy. I don't get it surely tighten up, bin the slow tippy tappy bollocks, ball in to Harland from midfield that he can run on to as defenders hate that but he won't change. I know Erling is off but I imagine he is pissed with the non existing service.

TBF if he had gone in for the ball the keeper would have feigned an even worse injury resulting in a red card
I don’t think so, I’m dead level with it in East Stand, he would either have lobbed the keeper or knocked it past him. He may have got clattered and got a penalty. A forward like Agüero, Shearer etc would have never bottled out.

Had plenty service yesterday just couldn’t finish. He does when running to goal but doesn’t find space in a busy box to get tap ins like Sergio was so good at as he rarely gets in front of the defender.

I completely agree with your points. We don’t play to Haaland’s strengths and it baffles me. However, he’s a sulky bastard and isn’t playing on his toes. He needs to lead the press. He needs to demand the ball quicker. He needs to attack the crosses that come in when they do come in and he doesn’t. He was just as poor and half-arsed as anyone else yesterday. Maybe frustrated, maybe just out of form, but, he had a few very good chances yesterday that he wasted.

Yes I noted that at the time. Gvardiol persistently caught upfield. However, he is asked to play as an attacking left midfielder because of injuries to Grealish and Doku.
But how crazy is that?......we dont have our normal midfield and yet he is still being asked to push so high....

I get Pep wants the players all close together but Ive just listened to hisinterview after the match....he rightly says we are not a team that can run full length of the pitch 40 times up and down....but if we have all our players shifting as a group up and down then the midfielders and defenders are going to have to do that.

Surely sitting the back 4 even 5 yds deeper spreads the pitch a bit, reduces the chance f counter....makes the opponents come at us which leaves more space in behind them? Where as now we as a team are all going to them in the final third leaving huge amounts of space to play simple passes (that dont even have to be accurate to feet but just into space.....for their players to run into.....

I tell you what....the scouse midfield and attack will be really looking forward to playing us more than ever and even the rags can play that game with their front players who are quick as well......

Something has to change while we dont have the players.

The rags are even quicker than the Scousers, they have tremendous pace on both wings and pace down the centre. We will need to defend a bit deeper and tighter against them. The Scousers attack in numbers and are direct, again we’ll need to be deep.
