Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

The funny thing is a run of 5 losses has turned us into a major crisis
This is all media hype and they are fueling the fire which some on here and jumping on and taking the bait

Look maybe the shit end of the stick is nearing the end with this run of games and one result can turn a season around, Fuck me, them over the road THEY all thought the new manager bounce would take them to the top of the league this season and a top 4 place, The amount of media shit about their new manager and what's going to happen really is crazy,

If 2nd in the league and still in the Champions League and FA Cup is a major crisis then we all should give up
Yes, the results are not good and players are struggling to find some form and injury setbacks have all come at the same time, But you know what, maybe it's better to get this bad run at this time of year and clear it up and go again.

If there is one club, the manager and players that all know how to handle a title race then it is City
I had to laugh at reports that this City squad is FAR TO OLD and Finished, I think we have a couple of player in the 35 range in Walker and Gundogan, Yes we have a bunch in the early 30s but is that old and finished ??

Let's get our shit together, Back the players and manager, bring the atmosphere, be the 12th man or the invisible man again, Let's Show the watch world we are Manchester City and WE FIGHT TILL THE END

The other contenders have only won the league once and the other none in 20 seasons. Meanwhile the team that everyone is hammering is just off the back of another title.

The squad has plenty of leaders who have proven themselves over numerous years by winning everything.

The contenders can come back and gloat once they have achieved the same feats.
People on here forgetting that we have missed a fully fit squad in Ake, Dias, stones, Rodders, kDB. Alvarez was a sort of last minute thing, and then Bobb gets injured. The season was looking rosy, but this has unfortunately happened. Do we really need to win five in a row. No, we will hopefully just tweek it here and there. If we escape punishment in the new year, then we go again next season. I know we’ve still got good players in Rico and doku, savinio and gundo who couldn’t hit a barn door. But we are missing the others to fit it all together. You don’t just all of a sudden fall off a cliff like this. We’ll get it back soon.

We Fight Till the End

As I think you can see from Pep’s post match comments about trust I think we are probably slightly guilty (as I have been as a fan) in assuming they could just all go again. Bill Belichick the great American football coach said it was better to let a player go a year early rather than a year late and with players like walker that’s probably right.

Couple the aging with a horrendous glut of injuries and you have some problems. Recent transfers haven’t really worked out (Phillips obviously and probably Nunes). Too early to say on Doku and Savinho for me. Kovacic has been solid but is not a “great” player for me.

Interesting times!
I think that's why everyone goes on about Ferguson rebuilding his team, which i'm not sure i agree with tbh anyway. But like you say it should be a constant work in progress, looking at who's coming to the end of the peak and getting someone in who can work alongside them like we did with Fern and Rodri. Walker, although i don't want to single anyone out, is a good example like you say. He was coming to a stage in his career where he himself recognised he probably wasn't going to play loads, instead of forcing him to make a choice of either staying and fighting with another world class RB we doubled down and not only gave him a new contract but made him captain (?!). Like i say, a list of calamitous decisions that have just come to a head and now we are paying for it. There's not doubt that Pep CAN get the best out of these guys and win the league, but the goal (as the leadership said in the documentary piece) is to win everything - for that you can't rely on luck.

Things started to change with the arrival of Haaland.
Pre EH we had a free scoring front 6.
Now we rely almost totally on one man, with the other 5 trying to lay it on a plate for him.
Too predictable and too painful to watch.

Yep - it changed alright- we won The Treble, we played 3 of the greatest displays of football I've ever seen by any team in the run up to that - and we won 2 PL titles. Breaking scoring records for fun.
Painful indeed.

Not “forgetting,” but rather “highlighting” that we have a few sick notes and the Leagues highest number of 29+ year olds and the FACT that we have been poor the ENTIRE SEASON, scraping results, giving up goals and having to constantly come from behind to win points.

Early doors, we scraped a few results together, but to suggest this is just the “usual early season blip” is too ignore the reality in front of you.

Rodri was always going to be a big miss, but NO-ONE has stepped up and I’m struggling to think of a single player who could be said to be having a decent season. Two weeks ago, I might have said Gvardiol, but that Scottish kid seems to have shaken him into not doing the simple, easy things, like hoof it into Row Z every now and then.

Where were they then? Only leaders we have are Rodri , Kev and Dias. 1 goal from spurs heads dropped we looked panicked. We have a captain that isn’t a captain and would rather do interviews than lead on the pitch.
