Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Said after the bournemouth, Brighton and Sporting games, the problems aren't with the players, it's a major tactical problem that doesn't get sorted until tactical changes are made. The injuries merely masked and offered an excuse for poor losses but I said after those games it will carry on even with most of the squad available if we setup the same way and look what's happened now.

A humiliating home defeat to a midtable spurs side who didnt perform all that well themselves, got beat at home to ipswich last game and was soundly booed off and who were without both their starting centre backs. If anybody is still clinging on to the excuse it will get better with certain players available I suggest they wake up. This will repeatedly happen until the formation changes.

We are constantly outnumbered when defending, no professional football club should be finding themselves putnumbered or at best man for man every single time the opposition attack, it's Sunday league amateur level of defending. If the opposition get things right, there's simply nothing we can do to prevent it, we're consistently gambling on them fucking up easy chances.

The press is the core problem, it is fucking dreadful! we've got slow players that can't get there, mainly the midfield, We've got players who run and put on the illusion of a press but never, ever make any real effort to win the ball back, predominately the front line and thus may aswell not bother and we've got players who just launch forward way out of position when the press has already failed, namely yhe defensive unit and none of them ever show any desire to get back into position or behind the ball once they've been easily bypassed.

Pep has had 2 weeks to think of something different to salvage the season. Today should have seen change if it was going to happen, he came up with nothing but a slight tweak that made us even worse, can't see how he changes anything this year if it didn't come today. If we play the same way nect weekend, were going to get annihilated at Anfield who thrive off doing the thing we're most vulnerable to and that will see us 11 points behind them. If that happens that will be the title gone by the first day of December, we won't be able to stop that gap growing nevermind close it
I agree but we have to trust the boss.

He brought the world class football. He can see the problems but seems clouded to change a successful formula and you can’t blame him. Rodri wouldn’t have been able to stop today.

I agree tactically we look lost trying to press but failing and getting caught out time and time again. Some players time is up and that not a dig just a reality.

Big test for pep to stop this approach, we know how stubborn he is. I expected a different approach weeks ago if im
Honest.

But as I said at the start, he brought the football and the winning. We got to believe he can do it again.

It’s all down to him I’m afraid. Maybe the players need to have a word with him about what they can and can’t do anymore.

I feel Savinho is beginning to flatter to deceive. Need to start seeing some end product from him with goals and assists.
Said to my neighbour in the ground today that Doku is a game changer but I’m just not seeing that from Savinho yet. I can see the talent the boy has and I think he’ll be great for us. Hopefully !

Might tune out to be a blessing in disguise Pep is persisting with his aged stars and if we had got a result today then it might well have papered over the cracks Walker Bernie Gundo Kev Ake Stones are playing like old men I dont understand though why he stands and watches that performance from the likes of Walker and lets him get away with it The transfer policy of the last three years is coming home to roust, big time and it’s got to take ££££££ to put it right.
As a club we are too nice to players before Alvarez was allowed to leave a direct replacement should he been found then he can leave Everyone, maybe aside from the club, knew that we had to have a backup for Rodri Bruno G being available with a buyout clause and being versatile was the idea buy especially as it seemed he was up for it No money stayed in the bank
There now has to be some serious squad up grading I said a few years ago let’s show the world we mean business let’s hope it’s not too late This isn’t a blip and today injuries are no excuse
The greatest coach that has ever lived can’t see, for some reason, that we keep conceding the same goal over and over and he hasn’t done anything about it
He begged Walker to stay why? He’s only ever had pace that was on the wain a few season ago we could have virtually got our money back but no a three year contact and he ends up captain the worse possible choice for captain did anyone see him being a captain today? Every time he gets the ball he studs it turns around and passes it back or sideways I wouldn’t play him again
Today Spurs weren’t that great we gave them the game don’t take chances, familiar story, made unforced errors which led to goals, familiar story FFS open your eyes Pep Team and sort it out
Why did we keep James MacAtee? Today he did his no subs until 70mins If he had brought Wright O’Riley and they made mistakes or played like Kev then it would have been acceptable but he took Rico off, hopefully protect him from that snide **** Madison with the useless ref, and brought the aging stars FFS

There was a moment in the second half when Neville referred to our previous side which had Aguero, Sterling, Sane, David Silva, peak KDB and Fernandinho. Everyone of those players would have started for every other PL side.

Compare that to now and I think only Haaland and Rodri are dead certs for every other PL side. I think that shows the drop in quality that we currently have.

I know stats are not everything but we have too many passengers in this current side. Grealish, Savinho, Doku, Bernardo and Gundogan will be lucky to get 10 goals and 10 assists between them in the PL this season.
Not sure about Haaland

Every 50/50 we lost, showed zero strength in the fullback position, showed a lack of ability to finish, didn’t fight for the shirt, captain is a joke, substitutions are slow and not reactive.
Injuries play there part for sure but why are some thrown straight in and the likes of kev are constantly looked past.
Rico is been used in the opposite to what foden was, and it shows.
Really is looking grim when this forum knows rodri needed cover, we have one forward, we have no full backs of quality and the highest paid management can’t see the blatantly obvious

Unfortunately that result has been coming, we've been playing shite for weeks.

Unless Haaland scores, no one does.

We've been hit with injuries, but even when everyone is fit and available Pep still tinkers fir tinkering sake.

Last few transfer windows have been horrendous, you're supposed to improve from a position of strength, we didn't.

We had a starting midfield today who don't possess a tackle between them.

The rebuild is bigger than we thought, we need young hungry, talented players who are good enough to start from day 1, not requiring a bedding in season.

Tittle is looking very unlikely, but please God not the victims or the tarquins.
Does it mean we can all go back and support chelsea?

Come on chelsea. Yeah.
