Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I don’t agree they were excellent as they didn’t need to be better yes but never excellent
Then you are blind, they were fantastic. Passed us off the park, fast, direct and dangerous every time they came forward. So many times they had it in their left back area, with us pressing and a few passes later they are on the attack. Really impressed by them.

It was bad midfield was over run ,but and it`s a big but ,we are playing with squad players and kids out of position ,I have however over the years seen an awful lot worse than that ,remember where we came from ! We are not rags or scousers don`t forget that ,so I am unhappy but it`s not the end think of the players who will return .CTID

Things just aren't clicking at the minute. Passing is of by a few inches, decision making is a few milli seconds of. Shots just abit of. Players not fully fit. Players of the pace coming back. The world's best player out for the season. Team is struggling and lacking confidence. Team struggling to cope with all of this.
Plus everything that could go wrong is going wrong.
Add into the mix we are everyone's cup final ! I bet spuds lose their next game ;)

This team needs support now.

The fact is this could have happened after we won the treble. Pep is right in that they've shown so much already and a decline is inevitable, particularly when you are missing the key jigsaw piece in Rodri. We rarely lose with him in the side. Replace Gundo for Rodri today and those mistakes either don't happen or he resolves them. He is always an out ball and he wouldn't stand for the filth some of the players are serving up. He certainly wouldn't stand for the number of players bottling tackles or losing the physical challenge. Foden, Savinho, Gundo, Rico, Akanji, Walker...all of them were easily shoved off the ball. There's no nasty edge running through the team to make sure we win every aspect of the game.

But we are 2nd in the league still and there was going to be a drop at some point. We aren't many players off being right back at it again and we will be the team to beat again very soon.

For now, we support the lads, push them to make sure we stay in the top 4 and hopefully pick up honours elsewhere then go again. Form is temporary, class is permanent and this squad has plenty of class.

The problem for me is that I’m really struggling to see how we can turn this around. We’ll probably beat Feyenoord and maybe Forest too, but I just can’t see us going on the type of prolonged run needed to win a title. Any kind of decent opponent suddenly feels like a daunting prospect. Seems incredible that you can still get Liverpool at 11/10 next weekend. Free money for this who want it.

The main problem is clearly in midfield. We have no physicality or energy in there, and that is a major issue to solve. We clearly need to go into the market in January, but not sure how we can fix it in the short term. If Guardiola somehow wins the title this season with this squad, it’d arguably be his greatest achievement to date.

Without wanting (or meaning) to sound controversial I believe we need to sign some Strong athletic players of African origin. We are lacking pace and power all over the pitch at the moment.

I honestly can't decide whether you're being serious or not.

Either way, I suspect we both know it's not likely to happen in the next few years.
