Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Well l will start with those supporters who left early a load of fucking tossers and bloody entitled wankers they were a disgrace. I'm fucking boiling
Well I am not apologising, normally leave with a couple of minutes of injury time to go but went when the clock hit 86:30.

I am nearly 80 and it is a hell of a walk from block 211 to the Metrolink, made worse by the shocking drainage around the stadium. Also a 5:30 kick off for a Saturday league match is just stupid.

Nothing to do with the team I went there expecting to lose as we frankly are shocking this season. I will be back for the next league match with another ridiculous kick-off time.

You leave when you want and when you feel you have to mate, never mind the "I'm the best supporter because I stay and mow the fucking pitch" brigade.

It’s (relatively) awful and it already was, well before the 5 defeats.

Too many players shouldn’t be here anymore (some of Walker, De Bruyne, Gundogan, Bernardo). Pep got it wrong by taking Walker for dinner and persuading him to to stay 2 years ago. We should have got Frimpong or Porto then.

We have one of the best goalscorers in the world but we don’t play to his strengths.

We play possession based football, but don’t have the same level of players on the ball anymore.

Pep hasn’t really innovated for two years and everything is now so predictable.

Dias is a natural leader, leads by example and is vocal, but has been overlooked as captain by Kyle bloody Walker. ‍

We spent 100m on a midfielder (Jack) who is creative and exciting, but is only ever allowed to be tied to the left wing.

Doku & Savio are currently lower-mid-table standard players. They should be coming on with 20mins to go if we’re 2-0 up.

Where the fuck is the Phil of last season?!

Things just aren't clicking at the minute. Passing is of by a few inches, decision making is a few milli seconds of. Shots just abit of. Players not fully fit. Players of the pace coming back. The world's best player out for the season. Team is struggling and lacking confidence. Team struggling to cope with all of this.
Plus everything that could go wrong is going wrong.
Add into the mix we are everyone's cup final ! I bet spuds lose their next game ;)

This team needs support now.

According to some it seems our players take an eternity to be fit and when they get there they become exhausted with all the football they have played. I'm not having the not fit excuse anymore.

I'm going with we just ain't as good as we used to be and Pep can't or won't change the way we play to compensate.

I suppose we hope for seemless transitions and we have been pretty darn good at it but this time the new guys aren't as good as hoped so far(if ever) just as the superstars of the team are fading.

Shit happens so I would personally set the hopes this season lower than normal, if we win something, it will be a stress free Bruce bonus.

Let's not turn on the players though, no harm saying someone isn't good enough or past their bes,t its a foitball forum for discussion not a bloody cult, but disputing their efforts isn't on really.

The Biggest Bestest Blues will continue to annoy with their inarticulate William Wallace/Churchill tribute acts though I fear:-)

5 would have been truly epic but you can't really expect epic or it wouldn't be called epic:-)

Got to applaud them for the effort. Actually think the workrate got better the worse it got. Christ this team has character.

Big improvement after Lewis went off. Grealish makes us less counter vulnerable because he just doesn't give the ball away.

Rodri absence is obviously critical but recruitment is biting us in the proverbial. We are nowhere near replacing Mahrez. Our replacement wide players have no where near same end product

Watching a different match? The 4th goal we conceded was created by his inexplicable, silly "Grealish square ball".

Rag?! No. And that’s a fucking insult

What it is, is positive and realistic way of looking at our recent history and dominance, but that is clearly lost on our new, glory hunting, spoilt twat ‘fans’
Except its not as we haven't lost 5 on the bounce before under Pep, so no it's not really realistic.

Commenting on what you see isn't glory hunting that's just rather stupid.

Note I didn't need to use the word twat:-)

If we were winning 4-0 virtually the same amount would have left early as always, would you still be boiling?

Saying we will win the league is expecting, you didn't say you think we will win the league, you said we will. No doubt about it and that is arrogance. Recent history counts for diddly squat. Tomorrow we will probably go 8 points behind with Liverpool away to come, a place we have won once in what, 20 years or so? Do you count that recent history? History suggests that teams that lose 5 games on the spin, and deserve to lose them games, don't go on to have a successful season.
The continual chest thumping has affected his noggin I fear:-)

Rest of the 2024 fixtures:
  • H - Feyenoord, Forest, Rags, Everton
  • A - Bus Wreckers, Palace, Juventus, Villa, Leicester
We will definitely lose at the BW’s and Juventus. Not hopeful for much from the rest either.

I hope we have at least 3 top players lined up for purchase in January to give us a fighting chance in the FA Cup.

I don’t think we spend in January have a feeling they are keeping the war chest just in case we lose the 115 and the points deduction gets us relegated, the money we have will pay the players wages to get us back in the premier league next season. Either that or we blow a shit load of cash on who is anybody’s guess.

All these posts about "Pep won't change, he only knows one way of playing", bollocks.
Anyone thinking that needs removing from a football forum. Unfortunately, he is applying the shit way.
Pre the Trebble and since he arrived, the Pep way was, possession based, passing securely and quickly and often, ant like movement, tiring opponents out, recovering to ball quickly in 2s and 3s etc. Then success, The Treble, the following season we lost our shape, our work ethic, our system. Yes we hung on to win a 4th! but the trajectory was evident and it's come home to roost in abundance. Injuries speeding the process up, along with aged and not good enough players. A perfect shit storm.
Perhaps it's managed and we're recalibrating and timing a new look team with the end of the charges and new stand? But the fall off from what was worked towards, is vast.

Good points and hard to disagree. Also, the turnaround required to challenge looks vast now. I'm hoping yesterday was the low point of the season. If things don't rapidly improve there may be more of the same.

Some good points but describing a 4th consecutive PL title as a bauble isn't one of them.

I wrote a bit of a hissy fit post in the match thread at 3-0…so taken a few deep breaths since then.

It took us 7+ hours to drive there today. It usually takes 4/4.5hrs. With 4 kids. As we do every home game (to be fair, kids don’t do weekdays, though I do). My boys are 15 and 12 and had to push the car a couple of times in the borders as the snow hit and the A702 was hit with the blizzard. It probably wasn’t good parenting to put us all at risk to be honest, the roads were lethal.

We’re now at Carlisle on the way back, if the roads are halfway decent it’s another couple of hours out to East Lothian.

But that was dogshit. Utter dogshit.

Like I said in my other post, I’ve barely missed a home game in 40 years. I was there at Lincoln when we let in 4. And Anfield for both games when we let in 10 in the space of 5 days. But tonight was dogshit.

What annoys me is the players we had our tonight have won everything. I’m not hacked off at Craig Russell, Ged Brannan, Martyn Margetson or (showing my age) Gary Fleming. They’d not won a thing, they had nothing to prove, they did their best.

Tonight, I didn’t feel that team did their best and that’s unforgivable.

Anyway, rant over. Back to the M6 and M74 and getting home wired from the coffee whilst the players have been asleep for hours and I carry an 8 year old to her bed.

Melodramatic I know and I’ll be there midweek as always but I’m royally f*cked off tonight, more than I should be.

Top post mate

So you can be a top supporter and have a moan at a performance.

Who knew? :-)
