Spurs (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Yeah nah. That's utter rubbish. Talk to someone else.
Gladly.

Not worth the time speaking to someone who thinks Pep who is famously meticulous wasn’t exciting Spurs to play this way.

Do yourself a favour and look at the record vs Spurs or Frank’s Brentford and work it out for yourself.

Fab got our poxiest most predictable game over with. Trying not to get too carried away as this is a re build and so a work in progress. But it wasn’t great at all.

Far too open set up from the outset with that team selection when that might have been right for last ten mins if chasing a winner. Reindeer was too deep and wasted. Cherki might be a luxury in games like that. Had a bit more control with Rodri and Bernie. A bit. Sorry Rico we need a proper right back asap. Oh and longer studs for the whole squad.

Spurs press killed us. We used to be able to play through that kind of thing. But that needs a team used to playing together. And then the whole effort turned hesitant, poor choices and then the howler from James T.

At least Pep will know now that set up doesn’t work. Surely wouldn’t just be stubborn would he? Oh and Son didn’t score so that’s good.

I thought the only decent player today was Nico, won a few battles and looked up for it. Spurs were a handful, very much like how Brentford played under Frank. They were out there to rattle us and it worked.

Plenty of work to be done. We’ve had a big turn over of players since January and it’s our second game of the season. No need to lose our heads just yet.

Think I read at half time that Ait Nouri has hardly had an injury for 3 years. It would be a major blow if our only out right wing back was injured for a while.

Agreed. Only player I did t criticise more than once.

Will do cheers.

The most worrying thing for me, is that everything we (pep and those before him) built over the last amount of years to reach the top of the game has quickly been undone in a very short time span

Absolutely pure 100% bollocks that. A terrible watch too.

Why does Pep seem to ignore that we often ship tragic (comically) bad goals ?

Bad day at the office today and we all expected way way better with the new line-up. To serve up that slop as the first home game of the season was unforgivable.

Saying that, although everyone will be wanking themselves off into a frenzy about the amazing and mighty Spurs tonight, those were dreadful goals to concede. Especially the second. That should have never ever fucking ever happened. The first too if we had a proper defence. But did we even deserve a 0-0 today ? I dunno. You decide.

Serious question : Was Haaland on the pitch today ?
We didn’t deserve a draw. If Spuds hadn’t been gifted that second goal they would have scored another. They contained us for the whole of the second half and looked more likely to score even in containment mode. Outrun, outthought, outcoached, outpassed, did we win a 50/50 all game? I thought they were pretty good but so are Liverpool, Arsenal,Chelsea,Newcastle, Brighton,Bournemouth, Palace…..
We are in for a long season unless Pep and his team light a fucking bonfire under that mess.

Problem @Blue Tooth is it's the same work as 12 months ago.
We're in for a struggle this season if Pep again refuses to see that the game has moved tactically - anyone watching that today knows we're still screwed by high intensity mobile pressing
That's a fair observation. New players take time to settle. Today they will have learned much more than at Wolves about the PL. Spurs played well but we were miles off it and still could have scored 2 or 3. Can the new recruits pick it up? Time will tell. Can Pep change? Unlikely.

You must be on the wind up.

Trafford was solid? Mods! It’s a troll.

What ????

I'll have whatever your taking mate.
And you all are posting your knee jerk reactions.

Everyone loves to blame goalkeepers but the fuck up is before it gets to him. Just like Ederson got tons of blame for years.. today you all blame Trafford.

Donnarumma won't magically paper over the cracks.. the same thing with happen again.

Unlike you all, I'm not even remotely worried about Trafford. He was great and showed his grit with his double save at the end. The problem in this case was Ruben's pass!

Only thing we need to worry about is our players being outworked by Spurs all game and a general lack of urgency and just lack of a fight.

That's something Pep has to address!

Oh and can we not sell Savinho to them to make things even harder on ourselves??
